These Grade II listed holiday homes have been lovingly restored this 13th century building in a truly sympathetic way which has ensured that the buildings many original features have been preserved and in some cases enhanced.

About Tithe Barn Cottages

A great deal of love, work and passion has been invested to produce a truly outstanding group of cottages. From the Farmhouse with its exposed oak beams, which have been carbon dated back to the time of King Henry VIII, to the Hayloft with its open plan layout and remains of a Saxon window on its east gable or the ground floor Byre with its ancient door there are wonderful original features to be enjoyed.

All three cottages have been beautifully furnished and provide a unique warm and welcoming experience to ensure you enjoy your stay in this truly exceptional accommodation.

Local Area

We are located in East Durham approximately 3 miles from the coast. The National Trust coastal path, which runs the length of Durham's coastline and includes Seaham, renowned for its world famous sea glass. It should be noted that the beach at Easington is also an excellent place to collect sea glass. Local sea glass lovers have been known to call it the secret beach. On a clear day from the top of the village green you can see along the coast to almost Whitby in North Yorkshire. The adjoining village is Easington Colliery, which as the name suggests, grew up around the coal mine. The film, Billy Elliot, was shot in Easington Colliery and some of building used as the backdrop can still be seen. We are centrally located between world heritage site Durham, Sunderland and Hartlepool all approximately 15 minutes away.
