We’ll even show you how to drive the boat and where best to see the spectacular wildlife. The cottage was originally the farmers ‘Blackhouse’ and had been fully modernised to provide relaxing and comfortable accommodation. There are 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people plus a sofa bed. There is also a wood burning stove in the lounge with electric lighting provided by the island generator. The fully fitted kitchen/dining room includes a fridge freezer and cooker. The cottage also includes a family bathroom and conservatory. The conservatory and dining kitchen windows enjoy wonderful views from which to watch the glorious wildlife. Otters feed and fish on and around the pontoon in front on a daily basis whilst seals swim past heading through Caol Chàrna narrows to our right and both eagles often perch on ‘the bridge’ in full view!

There is a unique freedom to explore on land and by boat this stunningly beautiful and secluded area, so free from light pollution the Milky Way lights up the sky on clear nights.
Local AreaThe beautiful seclusion of this wild conservation island gives ample opportunities for exciting outdoor adventure. Guided walks, or exploring on your own, the island offers amazing opportunities for hillside rambles and picnics, wandering the shoreline for rock pools and finding crabs, discovering the archaeology or launching your own expeditions by boat. With zero light pollution on a clear night on Carna provides quite a spectacle. To sit outside the houses on a dead quiet night and admire the scale of the cosmos while spotting shooting stars and satellites whizz by is one of our favourite experiences on Carna.
On the mainland you can visit Ardnamurchan. It is is the most westerly point of mainland Great Britain, with a whacking great lighthouse to prove it! The peninsula, along with neighbouring Moidart and Morvern, is full of stunning landscapes you will see as you wind along the single track roads past extinct volcanoes, ancient Viking boat burials, historic castles and the landing site of Bonnie Prince Charlie for the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion.
