The Granary at Moat Farm is an ideal base for a romantic break or a peaceful countryside getaway for two at any time of year. Located in the small village of Thorndon, it offers the convenience of a welcoming village pub and a local shop just a short walk away, where guests can find local produce and everyday essentials. For a wider choice of supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, several nearby villages and towns are only a short drive from the property.
The Granary is a cosy yet surprisingly spacious single-storey former farm building with traditional rafted ceilings, thoughtfully renovated to a high standard. It offers an open-plan living and kitchen area with a welcoming wood burner for chilly evenings, along with a comfortable sofa and armchairs perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine. A second room contains a large bedroom with a super king-size bed that can be converted into two singles on request, as well as a new ensuite shower room with a w.c. The original high beams add character throughout, and the décor creates a fresh and inviting countryside atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen includes all necessary white goods—cooker with hobs, oven and grill, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave, along with crockery, cutlery, glasses and a range of cookware. Outside, ample parking is available and the private enclosed garden features patio furniture, a barbecue, a neatly kept lawn and a tranquil pond, offering a peaceful place to relax on warm summer evenings.
Thorndon is surrounded by a network of footpaths ideal for scenic walks and the village church offers a pleasant spot to explore. Cyclists can enjoy quiet country lanes, while Thornham Country Park, just a short drive away, provides woodland rich in wildlife. Nearby Framlingham, with its turreted castle and links to the Dukes of Norfolk, sits in the heart of East Anglia’s growing wine region, where several vineyards offer tours and tastings. History lovers can visit Sutton Hoo, the Anglo-Saxon ship burial site managed by the National Trust and families can enjoy Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens. Within easy reach are Bury St Edmunds, Norwich and the Suffolk and Norfolk coast and the nearby town of Eye offers a selection of boutique shops and grocery stores.
