Clickety-Clack sits on the site of a former railway cottage, offering stunning views of the West Highland Railway line and the famous Jacobite Steam Train as it passes by. The property also enjoys uninterrupted views across Loch Eil and towards Ben Nevis, creating a peaceful and scenic setting. Guests can relax while watching sheep and cows grazing nearby and take in the variety of birds that inhabit the Kinlocheil shoreline.
Inside, the main living space is an open-plan area combining a fully fitted kitchen, lounge and dining space. Large 12-foot windows overlook Ben Nevis and Loch Eil, allowing natural light to fill the room and providing the perfect spot to relax in an armchair while watching the Jacobite Steam Train pass by. A separate utility room includes laundry facilities and a small handwashing sink.
The master bedroom features a king-size bed, an en suite shower room, a wall-mounted Sky TV and views of the river, mountains and railway track. The twin room offers two single beds and similarly impressive views of the loch, mountains and train line, with both bedrooms equipped with fitted wardrobes. There is also a family WC with a large shower, though the cottage does not have a bath.
The cottage is well equipped for a comfortable stay, with underfloor heating throughout controlled by digital thermostats in each room, full insulation and double glazing and all linen and towels provided, including tea towels. Guests can enjoy a wood-burning stove with an initial basket of logs, as well as practical amenities such as an iron, ironing board, washing machine, tumble dryer and an overhead pulley for drying clothes. Each bedroom includes a hairdryer and “in case you need” packs and guests are provided with handmade soaps from the Highland Soap Company and sustainably sourced toilet rolls.
Outside, there is private off-road parking within an enclosed fenced garden, along with a front patio area featuring a picnic table and seating. The cottage also offers entertainment and convenience through games, books, maps, a smart TV with Sky TV and free WiFi. Wheelchair access is available to the rear of the building and a welcome pack is provided for guests on arrival.
The cottage’s location just off the A830 Road to the Isles makes it an excellent base for exploring Ardnamurchan, the Small Isles of Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna, as well as Skye, Mull and even Inverness in a day. As it sits 15 miles from Fort William, a car is essential, although Loch Eil train station is just a two-minute drive away, offering free parking and rail links to Fort William, Glenfinnan and Mallaig as a request stop. Fort William itself is only a 25-minute drive and provides a full range of shops, restaurants and amenities, while Glenfinnan, just six minutes away, offers historic sites, the Jacobite monument and views of the famous viaduct featured in the Harry Potter films. Private parking can be arranged in Glenfinnan if visiting, while the nearest shop is around 10 miles away in Corpach and the last petrol station before the cottage is at Lochy Bridge, so it’s advisable to fill up there.
