Little Laight is a recently rebuilt cottage perched high on a hill above Cairnryan, overlooking Loch Ryan and facing south towards Stranraer. Once an old shepherd’s cottage and now part of the Loch Ryan Estate, it offers breathtaking views across the loch towards the Mull of Kintyre and even Ireland on a clear day.

Surrounded by rolling hills and situated next to an SSSI, the cottage is immersed in nature, with sheep, deer, cattle and a wide variety of birds as its only neighbours. It provides an ideal escape for those seeking solitude, peace and complete tranquillity.

Built to a high specification, the cottage features its own water supply, double glazing throughout and underfloor electric heating, powered where possible by a nearby domestic wind turbine. Everything is arranged on one floor and the cottage sleeps six people. The master bedroom includes a 6ft double bed and an en-suite bathroom. Two additional twin bedrooms share a bathroom that can be accessed separately from each room. The bright sitting room, with three windows, is perfectly positioned to enjoy the stunning views. The modern kitchen and dining area is spacious and well-equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge, large freezer, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer, creating a light, comfortable and practical living space.

Outside, guests have access to ample storage in the sheds beside the cottage, generous parking and a barbecue area with outdoor seating. A ramp leads to the entrance, making the property accessible for those with limited mobility.

Little Laight is also ideally located for outdoor enthusiasts. It is only a short drive from two of the world-famous 7 Stanes mountain bike trails at Glentrool and Kirroughtree. These areas also offer access to Galloway Forest Park and the region’s two highest peaks, Merrick at 2,766 feet and Cairnsmore of Fleet at 2,333 feet. Places to visit include:
