The Skylight Apartment is a self-contained holiday home for eight guests, set within a large listed building in the village of Loddon. The location provides easy access to the Norfolk Broads, the nearby coastline and the historic city of Norwich, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Occupying the entire top floor of the Georgian section of the building, the apartment retains many original features, including low beams and doorways that add character but require taller guests to take care.
The apartment includes three bedrooms: two spacious doubles and a charming single room, believed to be the oldest bedroom in the house. True to its name, the space is filled with natural light thanks to five skylights, particularly noticeable in the large dining and living area. The fully equipped kitchen features an oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and dishwasher, with plenty of room for guests to chat while meals are prepared. A washer-dryer is also provided for convenience. A separate study offers a quiet space for catching up on work or attending online meetings.
Guests staying at the Skylight Apartment have access to a gym and common room. The property includes a private car park at the rear with ample parking and secure storage for bicycles and motorcycles. A short walk through the garden, which guests are welcome to enjoy, leads to the rear courtyard. Access to the apartment is via an external staircase to the first-floor entrance hall, followed by an internal staircase that leads up to the Skylight Apartment on the second floor.
Loddon is a charming Norfolk village with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and a prime location for discovering the Norfolk Broads. This scenic area is known for its winding waterways, which can be enjoyed on foot, by bike or from the water. The village itself is full of character, offering a mix of historic buildings and useful local amenities, including independent shops, a post office, a chemist and a small supermarket. One of its highlights is the Church of the Holy Trinity, a striking example of 15th-century architecture. Outdoor enthusiasts can wander along Wherryman’s Way beside the River Yare, where peaceful paths and regular wildlife sightings make for rewarding walks. Down at the Loddon Staithe, visitors can sit and watch boats glide past or head out on the water themselves, with day-boat hire available in nearby Beccles. After a day exploring the area’s scenery and waterways, the village’s cafés, pubs and takeaways provide plenty of inviting options for a relaxed meal or drink.
