Old Manse Cottage offers luxurious, self-contained accommodation on the breathtaking northwest coast of the Scottish Highlands, designed with comfort and relaxation in mind. Tucked behind the Church of Durness, it has its own private access and parking and can accommodate up to four guests.

The hallway provides ample space for coats, hats and dog accessories, with a tray for muddy boots and a convenient downstairs shower room. The cottage is centrally heated throughout, making it warm and inviting at any time of year. The lounge enjoys sea views and patio doors open onto a peaceful seating area where you can unwind and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. A wood-burning stove adds extra comfort on cooler evenings and entertainment is provided through a Bose sound system, smart TV with Sky Q and unlimited Wi-Fi. For days when you prefer to stay indoors, a selection of books and games offers plenty to keep you occupied. The well-equipped kitchen is ideal for keen cooks, featuring a double oven, fitted microwave, induction hob, integrated fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and a large slow cooker for convenient all-day cooking. A freestanding coffee machine caters to coffee enthusiasts and the dining area at the far end of the kitchen leads out to a private patio perfect for outdoor meals.

Upstairs, the cottage features two superking or twin bedrooms, each with its own balcony and en-suite facilities. The rooms are designed to feel both homely and luxurious, with deep mattresses, feather toppers and fine cotton linens. Tea and coffee-making facilities and a hairdryer are provided in each room, along with a smart TV with Sky Q and USB charging points. The en-suites include spacious shower areas, heated towel rails, soft towels and a selection of indulgent toiletries.

Outside, the enclosed garden has patio areas at both ends of the cottage and is secured with stock fencing, making it suitable for well-behaved dogs with prior consent. A track behind the cottage leads directly to Sangomore, offering scenic walking routes for both short and long excursions, including paths to Loch Meadie and Loch Calladale.

Visiting the Area


The cottage is situated in the middle of the NC500 and so is the perfect base for exploring the east and west coast. The surrounding area is known for its stunning white sand beaches, dramatic cliffs and the distinctive machair grasslands unique to the Highlands. With its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, it offers plenty to enjoy nearby while also serving as an excellent base for exploring the wider region. Places to visit include:
