Pentre Mawr is a thoughtfully appointed holiday home sleeping up to 8 people and surrounded by a working farm. This beautifully converted farmhouse is on the edge of Rhosgoch, a hamlet close Painscastle and just a short drive from the historic market town of Hay-on-Wye. Being located so close to the England/Wales border makes us a great base for visiting a huge variety of attractions and places of interest.

Upon entering the farmhouse, you will realise the amount of care and attention to detail that has been put into every aspect of this holiday home. It has been tastefully decorated throughout and finished to a high standard. Sleeping up to 8 people, it is the perfect base for families and groups of friends who want to explore the surrounding countryside. Amenities and features include:

Master bedroom with king-size bed and en suite shower room.

Two twin rooms – these have zip/link beds and can be super king beds on request.
Family bathroom with bath and shower.
Well equipped kitchen with breakfast bar.
Dining room with large table seating up to 8 people.

Outside a patio and lawned area offers a place to relax and chat with the option of a soak in the luxurious hot tub to reminisce about your day. The children meanwhile, can be entertained by simply exploring the adjoining acre of land or spending time in the converted stable/games room. An evening around the campfire, under the stars is also an experience not to be missed.

Visiting Rhosgoch & Exploring Powys

Rhosgoch is in a beautiful part of Wales, close enough to places of interest, but secluded enough to escape the hustle and bustle of modern-day living.

A short drive and you can reach the market town of Hay-on-Wye. Settled beside the River Wye, it’s renowned for its world-famous Hay Festival of Literature and with its many specialist bookshops, antique shops, restaurants and cafes, it’s a popular destination for holidaymakers wishing to enjoy the leisure activities and beautiful scenery of the Wye Valley.

Builth Wells can be reached within a pleasant drive and is home to an 18-hole golf course, a pony trekking centre and a selection of amenities, plus each July it plays host to the Royal Welsh Show.

The surrounding countryside provides excellent opportunities for:

Canoeing.

Shopping.

As well as a variety of tourist attractions, including:

The Black Mountains.
The Three Castles Walk.
Brecon Beacons National Park.

The lovely walk to Hergest Ridge, which is said to have inspired the music of Elgar.

The ancient city of Hereford, the epitome of picturesque England, lies just over half an hour’s drive away, with its magnificent cathedral housing its famous chained library and Mappa Mundi and medieval bridge set over the winding River Wye.

Two well-behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. There is also an outside dog kennel.
