The Shed up the Lane in Stromness, Orkney, offers wonderful self catering accommodation in a contemporary and award winning studio apartment. Situated in the centre of town but located in a peaceful and relaxing lane, we are the perfect place to escape to from the hustle and bustle of modern life.


The tastefully furnished holiday home is an old Stromness cottage on the outside and an architect designed studio apartment on the inside and is perfect for a break for a single person or a couple. The property sleeps up to 2 people in a lovely double room on the mezzanine floor. A Sofa bed is available by prior arrangement. Bed linen and towels are provided on request and a hair dryer is available as well. There is also a stylish shower room with underfloor heating.

The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a range of excellent appliances: oven, hob, microwave, small fridge freezer and washer drier. There is a cosy dining/lounge area with TV, DVD player and freeview.

A few steps lead to a secluded and paved garden seating area with recycled flag stones, perfect for daytime picnicking or lazy Summer day. BBQ equipment is available on request.

There is storage for bikes and other sports equipment available.

Local Area

Located in a quiet lane off the main street in the centre of Stromness, The Shed up the Lane is secluded but close to the harbour, shops and galleries, hotels and restaurants. Stromness Museum is a ten minute walk away and the Pier Arts Centre is five minutes north along the main street. The golf course and fine circular walks are easily accessed from central Stromness. Free parking is 50m away in Franklin Road. A public swimming pool and fitness suite are a ten-minute walk away. There are also many lovely walks to enjoy as well as sailing and birdwatching.
