Step back in time at Hannabreck, a beautifully restored self-catering cottage in Orkney that blends heritage charm with modern comfort. Tucked away on the unspoilt Greeny hillside, the cottage offers privacy and sweeping panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. From your own grounds, you can relax in the hot tub and take in the ever-changing landscape, with the chance of spotting the Northern Lights on clear evenings.
Inside, traditional character sits at the heart of the experience, with flagstone floors, bespoke stonework, a crackling open fire in the main living area and authentic double box beds that capture the spirit of old Orkney. At the same time, thoughtful modern touches ensure a comfortable stay, including air-to-water underfloor heating, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer, a washing machine and outdoor line, fibre internet and a Smart TV. Bed linen, towels and bathrobes are all provided.
The private outdoor space also features a hot tub with an outside shower and seating area, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
This is a great base for exploring the heart of Orkney’s West Mainland, with some of the islands’ most famous historic sites close by. Just a short drive away you’ll find the remarkable Neolithic village of Skara Brae, the dramatic stone circle known as the Ring of Brodgar and the ceremonial stones of Stones of Stenness. The area also offers beautiful coastal scenery around the Bay of Skaill, as well as opportunities for walking, wildlife spotting and discovering Orkney’s rich Viking and farming heritage.
