Summary

Loch End Chalets are a selection of self catering properties which are located on a 38 acre estate within the Orkney village of Dounby. This is a magnificent setting with stunning views yet only a short distance from the large town of Kirkwall.

Accommodation


All self catering accommodation has DVD players, CD/iPod docking stations, Sony Bravia TV's, hairdryers, irons and ironing boards. We have 4 sets of cots and high chairs free of charge and all 4 star chalets have Jacuzzi bathrooms.

Cedar Cabin


The Cedar Cabins are built in a crescent, parallel to the shore, but about 70-80 meters back from the water; this ensures that once you're in your cabin you look out at a view of lawn and trees to the water rather than onto the back of another cabin. All the cabins are separated by a trellis and flower beds, and the patio doors lead onto a paved patio with outdoor seating. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, eco cleaning products, starter pack is all included in the price. Everything runs on electricity, which is charged at cost; on weekly lets the first 5 is included.

A Frame Chalet


We have 3, 2 storey, "A" frame chalets, each about 15 meters back from the shore, and about 10 meters apart. All 3 - Osprey, Heron and Cormorant - enjoy stunning, panoramic views across the lake and beyond to Ben Lomond or Osprey Point. Patio area has a picnic table with heather beds on either side.

A Frame Apartment


Our 3 "A" frame apartments - Widgeon, Teal and Mallard - are effectively 3 semi detached lodges, divided by 18" thick, sound proofed walls. They are about 15 meters back from and parallel to, the shore. With spectacular views in all weathers why leave the house! Double patio doors downstairs provide a wide vista, with outdoor furniture on a small paved area and upstairs the patio doors lead to a small balcony to drink in the view.

The Pine Lodge


The Pine Lodge is a wooden lodge 15 meters past the last Cedar cabin. The view from the patio doors is woodland, with the lake 100 meters off to the right. It's surrounded by an L-shaped flower bed with a mature Larch tree framing it. Bird and bat boxes on the trees in front make for immediate wildlife viewing.

The Coach House


The Coach House is our largest property sleeping 8-10 people and is ideally suited for large families or groups of friends. This semi detached stone cottage is a converted stable and sits behind the Pine Lodge, next to Nick Nairn's Cook School. The building was converted in 2004, to have 4 en suite bedrooms, a generous kitchen/dining space, with handmade elm table that can seat 10 and more. It is ideal for socializing and the sun lounge, which is off the kitchen dining area, makes the whole space feel open. Beyond that, through the patio doors, there is a decking area with patio furniture and a hot tub built on it's own area of decking, which is available for hire this year at 150 per weekly let. On the grassed area there is a very nice Victoria Plum tree, yours to pick fruit from in season.

Hannabreck


This is a traditional holiday cottage that can sleep 4 people in 2 double bedrooms. There is an open plan living/dining room which has a TV/DVD player, books, games and open fire. The kitchen is well equipped with a cooker, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and dryer. Outside there is a private garden.

Location


This is the ideal location for a relaxing holiday. The area is also great for outdoor activities including walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing and golfing.

There are plenty of attractions to visit such as St Magnus Cathedral, Bishop & Earls Palace, Highland Park Distillery, Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar and the Standing Stones of Stenness.
