Ash Tree Cottage is a charming and cosy Lakeland holiday cottage, rich in history and character. This Grade II listed property dates back to around 1650 and features original oak ceiling beams and thick stone walls that reflect its heritage. Tucked away in the conservation area of Ambleside, the cottage enjoys a quiet, slightly elevated setting, offering a peaceful escape from the bustle while being just a two-minute walk from the town’s shops, pubs and restaurants.

The cottage has been thoughtfully refurbished to a high standard, carefully preserving its traditional charm while providing modern comfort. Inside, it is tastefully furnished and well-equipped, ensuring a relaxing and effortless stay from the moment you arrive.

The spacious lounge and dining area, with its striking oak beams, is both comfortable and inviting. Guests can unwind on cosy sofas while enjoying the Freeview 40-inch TV, or make use of the Wi-Fi to plan days out in the surrounding area. A DVD player, stereo system and a selection of books, games and DVDs add to the home-from-home feel. In addition to central heating, an open fire in the lounge provides extra warmth and atmosphere during cooler months. An initial supply of fuel is provided in winter, with additional supplies available locally.

The modern kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, featuring an integrated fridge, freezer and dishwasher, as well as an electric oven with grill and ceramic hob, microwave, steamer, toaster, cafetière and kettle. All essential cookware, crockery and kitchen items are provided, along with helpful extras such as cling film, foil and kitchen towel.

Upstairs, the bedrooms retain their character with exposed oak beams and traditional latch doors. The cottage accommodates up to five guests across two double bedrooms and one single room. Comfortable duvets with quality cotton bed linen are provided, along with towels, throws for colder nights and even classic hot water bottles for added comfort.

The bathroom features Lakeland slate tiles and a white Victorian-style suite, including a wash basin, WC and a shower over the bath. A large heated towel rail adds a touch of luxury.

Outside, there is parking for one car and a raised patio area with outdoor furniture, perfect for sitting back and enjoying peaceful surroundings and far reaching views across the town towards the fells and Rydal.

Ambleside is perfectly placed for exploring some of the most beautiful spots in the Lake District, from the northern shores of Lake Windermere to scenic walking routes right from the doorstep. A short stroll brings you to the iconic Bridge House, while nearby Grasmere offers charming streets and connections to William Wordsworth. For breathtaking views, head to Loughrigg Fell or explore the dramatic landscapes around Rydal, including Rydal Water and its peaceful walking trails. Families and nature lovers alike will also enjoy visits to waterfalls such as Stock Ghyll Force and gentle lake cruises departing from nearby Waterhead.
