Airds of Balcary in Authencairn offers self catering accommodation in a stunning countryside setting. Situated on a working farm near Castle Douglas, we are perfect for a rural break in Dumfries & Galloway, with some of the best coastal and countryside walks in South West Scotland around the farm.

Our farmhouse is perfect for nature lovers looking to escape the pressures of modern life, offering stunning 180-degree views over Balcary Bay, farmland and rolling Galloway Hills.

Our farmhouse offers luxurious facilities to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. You can unwind in 2 cosy sitting rooms which include a TV, a toasty multi-fuel stove and leather settees. A conservatory with comfy seating offers outstanding views across the farmland to Balcary Bay, over the Galloway hills and to the Lake District fells, with the Robin Rigg Wind on a clear day.

Rustle up some delicious dishes in the well-equipped kitchen/diner which comes with plenty of storage space, double ovens, one gas and one electric, with an induction hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge freezer. It has a dining table to seat 5 guests. A separate dining room is also available, great for more formal dinners.

Upstairs there is 1 king en suite, 1 twin, 1 single and a family bathroom. Downstairs there is a further wet room. All bed linen is included.

Outside there is a garden with a patio/BBQ for al fresco dining while admiring the views. There’s also a secure exercise area for dogs.

This part of the country has so many activities and attractions to enjoy. Visit the coastline, beaches, castles & acres of forest. You can also enjoy scenic walks, cycle or play a round one of the golf courses. Only 15 minutes way is the bustling town of Castle Douglas, home to independent shops, restaurants and Threave Castle.
