Broad How is an impressive building dating back to the 1830s, it stands in an acre of garden with lawns, shrubs, chairs, benches and a slate table. There is a wild area to explore, with swings; a small play area for younger children, and space in which to run around, when the weather is fine.

Inside, there is plenty to keep you busy on rainy days: a range of toys & games for all ages; hundreds of books, maps and guides; one digital & one acoustic piano and a full-size pool table. We even now have free wi-fi internet access, based in the sitting room but covering most of the house. Phone calls to other landlines are free. The house is ideally situated, between Penrith (15 miles) and Ambleside (12 miles), within sight of Helvellyn and only half a mile from "the loveliest lake in England", with its steamer, boat hire, sailing, rowing & fishing.
