The Old Coach House is a traditional stone cottage which offers charming self catering accommodation in the village of Burythorpe. We are close to the market town of Malton in North Yorkshire and a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds, the coast and the magnificent city of York.

Accommodation

Our former Coach House offers lovely accommodation for two people in a peaceful environment. This charming cottage has been furnished to a high standard, making it a cosy retreat for couples.

Upstairs there is a large double bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed, TV, hairdryer, radio/alarm clock, dual control electric blanket, along with stunning panoramic views across the village.

Downstairs there is an open plan living/dining area with comfortable sofas, TV, dining table and chairs and a selection of books and DVDs, all providing the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day out exploring the area or visiting the many historic houses. The modern well-equipped kitchen includes a double oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washer, tumble dryer and a freezer – we try to make it ‘home from home’. The bathroom benefits from a large modern walk-in shower, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail. All bed linen and towels are provided.

Outside there is secure parking for three cars and a summerhouse with a delightful private patio and garden furniture. There is also a secure locked shed available for bicycles.

Fresh milk, tea, coffee and a complementary bottle of wine will be awaiting your arrival to help you unwind after your journey.

Visiting Burythorpe & Exploring North Yorkshire

You can enjoy gorgeous walks from the door along designated footpaths, with the Wolds Way, Centenary Way and Tabular Way nearby. Dalby Forest is on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and offers amazing cycle trails to suit all abilities as well as walks throughout the forest area. The World of James Herriot is also situated near Thirsk which is only a 40-minute drive from the village. For those visitors interested in wine, why not visit Britain's most northerly commercial vineyard only 2 miles from the cottage, where award-winning wines can be purchased.


There are many excellent pubs/restaurants in the area and Malton offers a large variety of independent shops and restaurants. There is a local food market on the second Saturday every month and a Farmers Market on the last Saturday of every month.The cottage is situated in a historic area with the following places of interest all within easy driving distance - Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Sledmere House, Scampston Gardens/House, Duncombe Park, the city of York, North Yorkshire Moors Railway departing from Pickering to Whitby via Goathland and Grosmont.
