The lounge, with its triple aspect windows offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, this is an excellent place to sit, relax, admire the scenery and spot the local wildlife. Step out through the French doors to the large patio and savour the wider views and the clear highland air; or in colder weather, snuggle in to the comfy sofas and warm your feet by the log burning stove.
The large garden surrounding the cottage provides plenty of space to lounge around, soak in the ever changing moods of the Ladder Hills and watch out for deer, buzzards, finches, hares and the antics of the sheep and cows that enjoy the surrounding pasture. We also have a collection of outdoor games for you to enjoy during your stay.
Local AreaThe Braes of Glenlivet is located in the North East corner of the Cairngorms National Park in the Scottish Highlands. This is an area of particular natural beauty and rural charm. Only minutes from Tomintoul, the highest village in the Highlands, this is where green pasture meets the rolling heathery foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains creating a unique blend of farmland and upland scenery. With its panoramic views of this wonderful landscape, Newfield’s quiet and peaceful location is the ideal setting to help you relax and unwind. It also makes an excellent place to retreat to after exploring the wider park and surrounding countryside.
The area around The Braes is not only scenically stunning which is perfect for walkers but is also steeped in fascinating history, teeming with wildlife and full of interesting places to visit and activities for the energetic and adventurous – not to mention it being at the heart of malt whisky-making country. As well as being in a great position for accessing many walking routes, we also have the Glenlivet Bike trails nearby as well as many castle and whisky distilleries.
