Kirkdale Estate has stunning sea views overlooking the beautiful Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway. On the estate state there are 2 detached self catering cottages, each in their own special and secluded location. We are only 5 miles from the very popular town of Gatehouse of Fleet and also within 30 minutes of Kirkcudbright Artists’ Town, Castle Douglas Food Town and Wigtown Book Town.

Kirkdale Port

A charming traditional cottage with stunning sea views and a south facing garden which runs down to the shore. The cottage has amazing sea views over the Solway Firth and also sleeps six. The sitting/dining room and all three bedrooms have wonderful sea views.

There is a double bedroom on the ground floor and two twin rooms upstairs. A wood burning stove in the sitting/dining room will keep you toasty and a dining table seat up to 8. Facilities include a TV/DVD player. The well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Sea fishing is available from your own front door. Kirkdale Port is a gem of a property with wildlife all around you - rabbits, deer, birds, moles, squirrels, woodpeckers etc - see our full list of wildlife sightings on our website.

Garden Cottage

A complete gem of a property offering complete tranquillity nestling into the corner of the original walled garden of the Estate., Garden Cottage is also a traditional Galloway cottage which uniquely has its own two acre enclosed walled garden. Woodland walks are available from your own front door or walk up to the fascinating site of Cairn Holy, a Historic Scotland ancient burial site and enjoy far reaching sea views over the spectacular Solway Firth. The cottage sleeps six each room with black out curtains to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. There is a master king and two twins. One of the twins has the fun of a mid sleeper for children.

There is a very spacious dining/kitchen area with cosy wood burning stove and table to seat up to 8 or 10 people. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge and the utility room off has a microwave, freezer and washer/dryer. The sitting room has also has a wood burning stove and south facing window plus south facing French doors opening to the fantastic enclosed space of the two acre private garden. Free logs and free wi-fi are enclosed also.

Visiting Kirkdale Estate and Exploring Dumfries and Galloway

Kirkdale Estate is only five miles from the very popular, small and beautiful town of Gatehouse of Fleet part of the stunning Fleet Valley. Walks abound in the area from the coast up in to the majestic hills of Cairnsmore of Fleet and the dramatic scenery up by the old viaduct where they shot the film, the 39 Steps. The Estate and our three holiday cottages are perfectly positioned to enjoy all that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.

There is a tennis court on the Estate which guests are welcome to use. There are coastal walks and fabulous walks in the Galloway Forest Park. Top mountain biking at the 7 Stanes offering routes from beginner to expert is only ten minutes from us. We are within 15 minutes of both Cream o’ Galloway and the Cocoa Bean, top family destinations in Dumfries and Galloway. There is golf, fishing, riding, tennis, biking, walking all extremely nearby. There is a choice of beautiful beaches nearby too.
