Kirkdale Estate has stunning sea views overlooking the beautiful Solway Firth in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland. On the Estate there are three detached self catering cottages each in their own special and secluded location. Garden cottage is idyllically situated with its own 2 acre private enclosed walled garden. Kirkdale Bank and Kirkdale Port cottages sit on the coast in their own locations and both have stunning sea views. Each of the cottages sleeps up to 6, is family friendly and pet friendly. We are only 5 miles from the very popular town of Gatehouse of Fleet and also within 30 minutes of Kirkcudbright Artists’ Town, Castle Douglas Food Town and Wigtown Book Town.

Kirkdale Bank

Kirkdale Bank has spectacular panoramic sea views over the stunning Solway Firth. Sleeping six, the house has three bedrooms, sitting/dining room and spacious kitchen with breakfast table. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. There is a master king size room with sea views, further twin with sea views and a bunk bedroom overlooking the garden. There is wood burning stove in the kitchen and open fire in the sitting room. There is a TV/DVD and iPod dock and a table that can seat up to 10. The cottage is pet friendly and family friendly with an enclosed front garden within the wider garden. Free logs and wi-fi are provided too. It is only a short walk from the cottage down a private single track to the shoreline of Kirkdale Estate where you partake in sea fishing or walk along the beautiful shoreline.

Kirkdale Port

A charming traditional cottage with stunning sea views and a south facing garden which runs down to the shore. The cottage has amazing sea views over the Solway Firth and also sleeps six. There is a sitting/dining room and all three bedrooms have wonderful sea views. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor and two twin rooms upstairs. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting/dining room and a table that can seat up to 8. Free logs are included. There is a TV/DVD player also. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Sea fishing is available from your own front door. Kirkdale Port is a gem of a property with wildlife all around you - rabbits, deer, birds, moles, squirrels, woodpeckers etc - see our full list of wildlife sightings on our website.

Garden Cottage

A complete gem of a property offering complete tranquillity nestling into the corner of the original walled garden of the Estate. Brand newly refurbished, Garden Cottage is also a traditional Galloway cottage which uniquely has its own two acre enclosed walled garden. Woodland walks are available from your own front door or walk up to the fascinating site of Cairn Holy, a Historic Scotland ancient burial site and enjoy far reaching sea views over the spectacular Solway Firth. The cottage sleeps six each room with black out curtains to ensure the best possible night’s sleep. There is a master king and two twins. One of the twins has the fun of a mid sleeper for children.

There is a very spacious dining/kitchen area with cosy wood burning stove and table to seat up to 8 or 10 people. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge and the utility room off has a microwave, freezer and washer/dryer. The sitting room has also has a wood burning stove and south facing window plus south facing French doors opening to the fantastic enclosed space of the two acre private garden. Free logs and free wi-fi are enclosed also.


Visiting Kirkdale Estate and Exploring Dumfries and Galloway

Kirkdale Estate is only five miles from the very popular, small and beautiful town of Gatehouse of Fleet part of the stunning Fleet Valley. Walks abound in the area from the coast up in to the majestic hills of Cairnsmore of Fleet and the dramatic scenery up by the old viaduct where they shot the film, the 39 Steps. The Estate and our three holiday cottages are perfectly positioned to enjoy all that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. Laggan Outdoor with the UK’s longest zip and clay pigeon shooting, archery, segway and cafe is only five minutes away.

There is a tennis court on the Estate which guests are welcome to use. There are coastal walks and fabulous walks in the Galloway Forest Park. Top mountain biking at the 7 Stanes offering routes from beginner to expert is only ten minutes from us. We are within 15 minutes of both Cream o’ Galloway and the Cocoa Bean, top family destinations in Dumfries and Galloway. There is golf, fishing, riding, tennis, biking, walking all extremely nearby. There is a choice of beautiful beaches nearby too.
