Barr Hall Barns are luxury self catering accommodation on the southern tip of the Ards Peninsula, 3 miles south of Portaferry, County Down, Northern Ireland.
Barr Hall Barns overlooks Barr Hall Bay, which is protected by the National Trust, and the Narrows and Barmouth with its turbulent currents. These 18th century stone self catering barns are sympathetically restored at a high standard into one 4 star unit with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms sleeping six, one 4 star unit with two bedrooms sleeping four and one 3 star loft style conversion sleeping two.
The Barn: 4 Star Northern Irish Tourist Board. Centrally heated two storey, three bedroomed holiday accommodation with an internal balcony overlooking the lounge. There are facilities for disabled and wheelchair access including a downstairs bedroom and adjacent shower room. This bedroom has two single beds. The ground floor is tiled throughout for easy movement. Upstairs are two further bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other two single beds. It is also possible to use the divan bed-settee on the open balcony area. There is a bathroom upstairs. Throughout many of the beams and original stone work have been preserved in this renovation.
The kitchen / dining room is open-plan and has an Esse oil-fired cooking stove, microwave and fridge. The lounge / living room has a separate traditional black cast-iron enclosed gas fire, beamed ceilings and a colour TV / video.
The Cottage : 4 Star Northern Irish Tourist Board. Originally built as a cottage and more recently used as a granary this is a centrally heated, single storey renovated stone barn with two bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other two single beds. There is a shower / bathroom. The kitchen / dining room is open-plan with beamed ceilings and has an Esse oil-fired cooking stove, microwave, and fridge. The lounge / living room has a separate traditional black cast-iron enclosed gas fire and colour TV / video.
The Apartment : 3 Star Northern Irish Tourist Board. Operating most recently as a hay barn this is attached to the back of the main house with its own entrances onto the courtyard. It is designed and equipped for two people. This renovated stone barn is modelled on a New York loft conversion idea with open beams being retained where possible. It is centrally heated. Downstairs there is a kitchen, dining and living area with an Esse oil-fired cooking stove, microwave, fridge and also a traditional black cast-iron enclosed gas fire. It is equipped with a colour TV / video. Upstairs there is shower room and an open balcony bedroom with two single beds.
All the holiday cottages : The Laundry Room. This is a common facility. It provides good drying space for wet shoes / clothes etc. It has a washing machine, freezer and ice maker, and cleaning utensils for all to use. Linens Bed-linens and towels for internal use are provided in the price. There is a bath-robe in each bedroom. There is also a hair-dryer in each unit. Please bring your own beach and swimming towels. Kitchen linens are also included in the price.
Car Parking - This is available within the yard and there is space for six vehicles.
Children - There is a large yard in which children can play.
Rates : From £295 to £595 per week depending on season & unit.
Maximum of 6 people. Children are welcome.
Smoking is not permitted. Pets allowed by prior arrangement.
