It is walkable from the site and offers a church, country pub and restaurant, village store and Post Office, farm shop, tea rooms, and much more. Wortley Hall Golf Club is also nearby for golf lovers.
AccommodationSwift Cottage and Garvin's Cottage are set in the Old Stable Yard of Wortley Hall. These stone-built cottages retain many of their original features and are full of charm and character but they have been modernised and equipped with all amenities.
Garvins Cottage is set in the old stable yard of the main hall this stone-built cottage has been refurbished to provide comfortable self catering accommodation. It has retained many of its original features and is full of charm and character. Garvins Cottage has 3 bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x single (3/4 bed) and 1 x bunk bed. It also has a bathroom with bath and shower, fitted kitchen with washing machine & dishwasher, fridge/freezer, dining room and cosy lounge. The bedrooms and bathroom are only accessible by stairs. There is also a garden and outdoor seating area plus parking. No dogs allowed in Garvins Cottages. Free Wi-Fi available.
Swift Cottage is next door to Garvins and has 2 x double bedrooms and 1 x twin bedroom. It also has a bathroom with bath and shower, fitted kitchen with washing machine & dishwasher, fridge/freezer, dining room and cosy lounge. The bedrooms and bathroom are only accessible by stairs. There is also a garden and outdoor seating area plus parking. Free Wi-Fi available.
Gardeners Cottage and has 3 x double bedrooms (one of these bedrooms is on the ground floor and is en suite with bath and separate shower) 1 x bunk room. It also has a bathroom with bath and shower, fitted kitchen with washing machine & dishwasher, fridge/freezer, dining room and lounge the (downstairs is split level). There is also a patio with outdoor seating, plus parking. Free Wi-Fi available.
Wortley Hall itself offers an ala carte restaurant “ The Ruddy Duck “ open Tues to Sat 6 pm until 9 pm reservations are required. It also offers a comfortable bar which is open daily from 12noon and also has a varied lunch and dinner menu. There is a quiz night every Wednesday at 8.30pm in the bar. If the weather permits why not also take advantage of the outdoor terrace overlooking the stunning formal gardens for a morning coffee or afternoon tea. Sunday lunch is also available and the very popular carvery is well worth a visit. The hall also hosts special events throughout the year such as the Vintage Car Rally, Garden & Craft Fayres, Wine Tasting Dinners, Christmas Events plus its Annual Festival in the summer.
Visiting Wortley & Exploring South YorkshireWortley Hall is a good base for those wishing to also experience the interesting sites of the surrounding area. Based within easy reach of the Pennine Trail and the Peak District it’s a walker or cyclist dream. The nearby market town of Penistone is renowned for its farmers Market which attracts visitors all year round. The Yorkshire Dales are also waiting to be discovered slightly further afield. There are also other historic houses to visit locally such as Wentworth Woodhouse, Wentworth Castle, & Cannon Hall. Chatsworth House is also an easy day trip. For those interested in the heritage of the area visits to Elsecar Heritage Centre, The National Coal Mining Museum, Kelham Island & Wortley Top Forge are also well worthwhile. For the shopaholics Meadowhall, one of Europe's top shopping malls with an extensive range of shops and restaurants are located just at Junction 34 from the M1.
