High in the hills of the Staffordshire Moorlands, Northfield Farm Cottages sit on the edge of Flash, the highest village in England. The cottages are in a rural setting and easily accessible, located just a few hundred yards from the A53. A range of horse riding is also offered, allowing riders of all abilities to be accommodated. Guests are welcome to enjoy the scenery whether or not they choose to take part in riding, although horse riding and offers a fantastic way to explore this quieter area of the Peak District National Park.
The four properties vary in size and together sleep up to 18 guests, with an additional two bed settees providing extra flexibility. This makes the cottages ideal for groups of families or friends meeting for short breaks or longer stays. A shared recreation and party room can also be used as a large dining space, with a banquet table seating 16 or more, alongside a fully equipped kitchen. These facilities are perfect for larger gatherings and can be accessed internally from the three larger properties.
Most double bedrooms feature zip-link beds that can be arranged as twins or super king-size doubles and all bedrooms are either en-suite or have access to a separate bathroom. Prices include bed linen, electricity and heating, with all accommodation centrally heated. Personal towels are not included but can be provided for a small additional charge.
Facilities across the properties include televisions, DVD players and reasonable use of free Wi-Fi. Kitchens are fully equipped with fridges, four-ring cookers and microwaves, with dishwashers included in the three larger properties. A washing machine and drying room are available for guests, along with cots and high chairs on request. Parking is located adjacent to the accommodation.
Moorland View, also known as The Apartment, is an upstairs flat with stunning views over the surrounding countryside, offering a quiet and private retreat. It has one en-suite bedroom with zip-link beds that can be arranged as a twin or super king-size double, a bathroom with a bath and shower over and an open-plan kitchen and living area with a dining table for two. The apartment is centrally heated, warm and cosy and includes a TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi.
The Hayloft is a first-floor property with far-reaching views across the high Staffordshire Moorlands and sleeps seven guests in three bedrooms. These include a double en-suite, a super king-size or twin en-suite and a bedroom with three single beds that has a separate shower room. There is also a comfortable double bed settee for additional guests. The Hayloft has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, a dining room and a living room with TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi, all centrally heated with ample hot water. The party room and adjacent kitchen below are available to guests staying in two or more properties and the larger properties can be accessed internally.
The Old Stables ground-floor accommodation sleeps five guests in two en-suite bedrooms, with an additional bed settee. Designed to be accessible for wheelchair users or those with mobility needs, it includes an en-suite double or twin bedroom with adapted facilities such as a walk-in shower and grab rails. Parking is immediately adjacent to the property. The second en-suite family bedroom includes a double and single bed, with a bath and shower over. A large, fully equipped kitchen and dining area opens into a comfortable living room with TV, DVD player and free Wi-Fi and central heating ensures a warm and comfortable stay. A communal porch shared with the upstairs Old Stables allows two families or groups of up to nine to stay together while retaining their own space.
The Old Stables upstairs accommodation sleeps four guests and is entirely on the first floor, with a double en-suite bedroom, a smaller twin bedroom and an adjacent shower room. The fully equipped kitchen leads into a combined living and dining area and the property enjoys extensive views across the Staffordshire and Derbyshire hills. It is often used alongside the ground-floor Old Stables and the Hayloft, making it ideal for families holidaying together.
The village of Flash sits high above dramatic moorland landscapes, while walking routes lead to natural highlights such as Three Shires Head and the striking limestone ridge of Chrome Hill. The spa town of Buxton is a short drive away and offers shops, cafés, historic architecture and gardens, while the surrounding Peak District National Park provides endless opportunities for walking, cycling and enjoying far-reaching countryside views. The farm is easily reached from both the M1 to the east and the M6 to the west, making it a convenient yet peaceful destination.
