Summary

The School House in Reinigeadal (Rhenigidale), famously the last village in the UK to be connected to the national road network in 1990, offers comfortable and affordable self-catering accommodation for up to four guests. Set in a stunning coastal location, the property enjoys breathtaking views across The Minch towards the Isle of Skye and the mountains of the Scottish mainland, providing a peaceful and scenic retreat.

Accommodation

Inside, the holiday home features a spacious living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen, one double bedroom and a second bedroom with bunk beds, along with a shower room. Towels and bed linen are provided and a travel cot and highchair are available on request. The property also includes a washing machine, tumble dryer and Freesat TV with an integral DVD player. While there is no wired internet connection, guests may be able to access 4G depending on their provider.

Visiting the Area

The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, with both golden and white-tailed sea eagles nesting nearby, as well as red deer and mountain hare roaming the hills. Lucky visitors might even spot an otter along the shoreline at dawn or dusk. With no street lighting in the village, the night skies are exceptionally dark, offering spectacular stargazing and, when conditions are right, the chance to witness the magical Aurora Borealis dancing overhead.

Rhenigidale is surrounded by dramatic coastal scenery and unspoilt landscapes, making it a paradise for walkers and nature lovers. The scenic Rhenigidale Path offers a spectacular coastal hike between the village and Tarbert, with breathtaking sea views along the way. Nearby, visitors can explore the white sands of Luskentyre Beach, often regarded as one of Scotland’s most beautiful beaches, or discover the turquoise waters and rugged beauty of Seilebost Beach. The harbour village of Tarbert offers shops, cafés and access to boat trips, while the wider island boasts ancient standing stones, wildlife spotting and stunning coastal drives.
