Foulford South Wing offers welcoming family accommodation in the heart of the Scottish countryside, surrounded by the serene and scenic hills of Perthshire. This self-catering retreat is set on the site of a historic drovers’ inn dating back to around 1785, giving the property a distinctive sense of heritage while still providing a comfortable and relaxing base for a countryside escape.
Guests staying in South Wing can enjoy unlimited use of our own unique Par 3 nine-hole golf course, one of the highest courses in Perthshire. Clubs are available to borrow and players of all abilities can take in the stunning scenery while enjoying this well-maintained and unusual course.
The property itself provides comfortable, modern self-catering accommodation in a lovely, secluded countryside setting. Recently refurbished, it features four twin en-suite bedrooms, two of which are inter-connecting. The rooms are tastefully decorated, well equipped, and offer ample storage. There is a spacious open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, along with an outdoor patio that’s perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee while soaking up the views.
The cottage is family friendly and has been fully adapted to make things easier for guests with limited mobility. Linen, towels and all kitchenware are provided, as well as a selection of board games and books. A television with a DVD player makes cosy nights in easy and enjoyable.
With superb views of the Perthshire hills in every direction, you are likely to encounter a wide range of local wildlife, including roe deer, black grouse, red kites and many other bird species.
South Wing is located just five miles north of Crieff, where you’ll find a variety of specialist shops as well as restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. The location also offers easy access to much of Perthshire and its renowned scenery, making it especially popular with walkers. The region is also a favourite with Scotch whisky enthusiasts, with historic Glenturret Distillery nearby and Edradour Distillery close to Pitlochry. While in Pitlochry, visitors can explore the Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre and enjoy a show at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Fishing is also very popular in the area, thanks to the many rivers, lochs, and fisheries, and autumn visitors can witness the spectacular salmon leap at Buchanty Spout just along the road.
For those wishing to explore further afield, destinations such as Oban, Fort William, Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, The Trossachs and the Kingdom of Fife are all within reach and well worth a visit.
