St Mary’s Cottage is a detached brick-and-flint property tucked among a small cluster of cottages beside St Mary’s Church on the edge of South Creake village. Reached by a lane and grassy track, it sits well away from the main road, offering a peaceful retreat around eight miles from the north Norfolk coast.

The cottage sleeps up to three guests. On the ground floor, a small quarry-tiled entrance hall offers space for boots and outdoor gear, leading through glazed doors to a cosy, beamed sitting room with a wood-burning stove, please note, there is no TV, but there is wi-fi. From here, a doorway opens into a spacious beamed kitchen and dining room, where cooking is done on an electric Aga. A microwave is also provided, and a washing machine is located in the outhouse. There is no dishwasher, but a radio and CD player are available, so guests should bring their own CDs.

Upstairs, there is a large double bedroom, a small bathroom with bath and shower and a single bedroom, which is accessed through the main bedroom.

Outside, the cottage has a generous garden with outdoor furniture, a patio, a summerhouse and an unfenced wildlife pond. Parking for one car is available on the drive.

The village centre is an easy ten-minute stroll away, where you’ll find a welcoming local pub offering meals throughout the day along with freshly made pizzas. South Creake is an excellent base for discovering north Norfolk’s countryside and coastline, with Burnham Market nearby for independent shops and dining and the impressive Holkham Hall estate offering parkland walks and access to Holkham Beach. The seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea is close by for harbour views and coastal paths, while North Creake Abbey hosts a popular farmers’ market. Just a short drive away, Fakenham provides a traditional market town atmosphere, shops, cafés and a well-known racecourse, making the area ideal for both relaxed exploring and days by the sea.
