Summary

Harford Bridge Park offers a peaceful base for everything from laid-back breaks to outdoor adventures in Devon. This five-star, award-winning, family-run holiday park sits just outside the historic market town of Tavistock, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Its tranquil riverside setting provides easy access to open moorland, scenic walks and a wide range of activities in the surrounding countryside.

Accommodation

Harford House is a detached 19th-century Devon cottage located on the edge of the park. Sleeping up to six guests, it combines period charm with modern comforts, making it ideal for a self-catering family holiday. Original features such as stone fireplaces, wooden beams and sloping ceilings add character throughout, while a 2024 refresh ensures a comfortable stay. Due to a steep staircase, the cottage is not suitable for children under three years old.

On the ground floor, there is a lounge with a TV, DVD player, log-burning stove and a cosy snug area for reading. The fully equipped kitchen includes an integrated fridge and freezer, oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The dining room features a large country-style table seating six and a second log-burning stove for cooler evenings, along with a ground-floor cloakroom with toilet and washbasin. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms with TVs, including a master with en-suite shower room. A twin bedroom with a characterful sloping ceiling provides additional sleeping space, though headroom is limited. The family bathroom on this floor includes a bath, walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet.

The cottage sits within a private landscaped garden with parking for two cars, a sun terrace with a gas barbecue, garden furniture and a parasol, all set against sweeping views of Dartmoor. An EV charging point is available at an additional cost and WiFi is included.

Guests staying at the cottage are also welcome to use the park’s facilities, including a children’s play area, indoor games room and tennis court.

Visiting the Area

Tavistock is a great base for exploring West Devon and the edge of Dartmoor. The town itself is full of history, with a pannier market, independent shops and the ruins of Tavistock Abbey, while nearby Dartmoor National Park offers dramatic landscapes, tors, rivers and endless walking and cycling routes. You can visit Morwellham Quay, a historic port and mining site on the River Tamar, or head to Lydford Gorge to see dramatic waterfalls and woodland trails. The Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is also close by, perfect for scenic drives, wildlife spotting and exploring charming villages.
