Summary

Barton Court is a gracious Georgian country estate on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills, just outside the village of Colwall near Malvern in rural Herefordshire. Set among seven acres of private gardens and grounds, the lovingly restored 18th-Century house and its former estate buildings now offer refined self-catering accommodation for everything from a romantic break for two to a landmark celebration.

Modern comforts sit happily alongside period elegance, creating a relaxed setting for unhurried meals, leisurely walks and long conversations around the fire. When you hire Barton Court you are not simply booking a place to sleep; you are securing a private haven where families and friends can reconnect with each other, the landscape and a gentler pace of life.

Barton Court

The main residence is an imposing yet welcoming Georgian home that sleeps up to twenty-six guests in eleven beautifully furnished bedrooms, nine of which are en suite, with two additional dedicated shower rooms. The main living areas of the house at Barton Court are generous and welcoming, designed to encourage relaxed time together in a beautiful country setting. The drawing room is spacious and bright with large windows overlooking the gardens, making it a natural gathering place for conversation and unwinding. A cosy library lined with books offers a quieter spot to relax, while a large dining room provides flexible space for meals together, whether casual breakfasts or celebratory dinners. The kitchen is open and sociable, thoughtfully arranged so cooking becomes part of the shared experience, and the breakfast area with views over the gardens and Malvern Hills adds a lovely start to the day. When you stay at Barton Court, you have access to over two acres of private gardens right outside your door, plus nearly seven acres of secluded estate to explore. The grounds include a historic walled garden and a newly planted orchard, mature trees and colourful borders, with winding paths through natural meadow areas where wildflowers and pollinators thrive. The garden spaces are designed to be enjoyed, whether you’re playing lawn games, having a barbecue or simply relaxing and listening to birdsong and wildlife such as butterflies, bees, birds and even red kites are often spotted around the grounds.

The Clock Tower

The Clock Tower is a lovingly renovated historic cottage, ideal for one or two guests, set within the grounds of the Barton Court Estate. Standing separately from the other buildings, it offers a fully private and self-contained place to stay. It is arranged over two floors, offering a warm and inviting space ideal for slowing down and enjoying a peaceful stay. On the ground floor, the welcoming lounge features a wood-burning stove, perfect for cosy evenings after days spent out walking or exploring. The kitchen is well equipped for easy, home-cooked meals and opens out onto a private patio and decked seating area, with access through to the beautiful Walled Garden. Upstairs, the bedroom provides a calm and comfortable space with lovely countryside views. There is also a toilet and basin on this level, while a contemporary shower room is conveniently located downstairs, combining period charm with modern comfort.

The Hayloft

The Hayloft is a thoughtfully converted hideaway with a calm, contemporary style, ideal for one or two guests. Set across a single level, it features an open-plan living space combining a comfortable seating area, dining table and internet TV with a well-equipped kitchen that includes everything needed for self-catering, along with handy extras such as a dishwasher and air fryer. The bedroom offers a double bed made up with crisp white linen and non-allergic bedding, while the ensuite bathroom includes a bath with shower over, a basin, loo and useful storage. Outside, a garden table and chairs provide a lovely spot to sit back and enjoy views of the surrounding hills.
