Summary

Oak Farm Cottage is a former milking shed that has been thoughtfully converted and sits within the grounds of our home in a peaceful part of the Norfolk countryside. Its central location offers easy access to the coastal resorts of Great Yarmouth, Hunstanton and the many places in between. Guests have sole use of the private swimming pool from Monday to Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Accommodation

The cottage opens into a utility and entrance room equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a single front bedroom and a kitchen fitted with an electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, microwave and a table with six chairs. The lounge provides comfortable seating with a three-seat sofa, two-seat sofa and an armchair, along with a 4K smart TV, 4K Blu-ray player and a soundbar with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Unlimited Wi-Fi is available, with typical country speeds of around 18 Mbps. The bathroom includes a bath with a shower over it, a WC, washbasin and heated towel rail. The double bedroom features an en-suite with a walk-in shower cubicle, WC, washbasin and hairdryer. A family bedroom offers three single beds, two of which can be zipped and linked to form a super-king plus a single. A travel cot, high chair, hoover, iron and ironing board are provided, and an essentials welcome pack includes tea, coffee, milk, eggs and a few treats.

Outside, there is one parking space directly beside the cottage, with additional parking available behind it. A paved patio offers a metal garden table with six chairs and a parasol. A storage shed with ample space for six bicycles contains a Weber kettle barbecue and accessories. A metal gate leads to a grassy area with washing lines and a pub-style picnic table and chairs.

Visiting the Area

Dereham and its surrounding area offer a relaxed mix of history, nature and family-friendly attractions. Visitors can explore the Mid-Norfolk Railway, where heritage steam and diesel trains run through the countryside, or enjoy a peaceful stroll around Neatherd Moor, one of the largest unenclosed green spaces in England. The town itself has an interesting past, reflected in landmarks such as Bishop Bonner’s Cottage Museum and the beautiful Grade II listed Dereham Windmill. Nearby, Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse provides an engaging look at Norfolk rural life, while local walks, boutique shops and traditional pubs make Dereham an easy and enjoyable base for exploring the region.
