Number 13, Crovie Cottage is beautifully located at the foot of dramatic 300-foot cliffs on the stunning Banffshire coast, around 40 miles north of Aberdeen. Set within the historic fishing village of Crovie, the cottage enjoys a truly unique coastal setting and is just a short drive from the charming nearby village of Gardenstown, making it an ideal base for exploring this unspoilt stretch of Scotland’s coastline.
The cottage offers comfortable and well-equipped accommodation for up to six guests, having been fully refurbished in recent years to a high standard. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen with underfloor heating, a welcoming sitting room with an open fire, a double bedroom located adjacent to the kitchen and bathroom, a hallway and a bathroom with shower and shaver point. The property is fully electric, with wall heaters in every room, while stairs lead to a small landing and two bright twin bedrooms, each featuring Velux roof lights. Modern amenities include hot water via an immersion heater, fridge freezer, microwave, electric cooker, washer and dryer, TV, video, DVD player, iPod dock and free WiFi, ensuring a comfortable self-catering stay. The house sleeps six people comfortably across four single beds and one double bed, all with continental quilts, with bed linen included for up to three guests and a small additional charge applicable for extra occupants.
Everyday amenities are close by, with local shops in Gardenstown just a 15-minute walk along the beach, while a wider choice can be found in Banff, 10 miles west and Fraserburgh, 15 miles east. Nearby pubs are located in Gardenstown and Pennan, the latter famously featured in the film Local Hero and golfers are well catered for with the renowned Duff House Royal and Royal Tarlair courses in Banff and Macduff. Duff House itself is part of the National Galleries for Scotland collection and offers an excellent option for the occasional rainy day. The dramatic coastal cliffs provide walking routes and opportunities to spot seabirds such as puffins, guillemots and razorbills, while the sea offers everything from peaceful reflection to dolphin spotting in the Moray Firth, with Crovie uniquely positioned to face the setting sun. Winter stays are often rewarded with clear, star-filled skies and occasional displays of the Northern Lights. Within an hour’s drive lie more than 60 castles, numerous whisky distilleries and the city of Aberdeen, while slightly further afield are Braemar, Balmoral, seasonal skiing in the Cairngorms and the city of Inverness, all reachable in around two hours by car.
