If you’re looking for something truly unique & time away from the world, surrounded by peace and tranquility, this traditional self-catering farmhouse offers the perfect escape. Situated in its own private valley with beautiful natural surroundings, Cwm Ffernol provides an ideal retreat for a quiet family getaway. Rated 5 stars by Visit Wales, this charming old farmhouse is conveniently located just off the A493 between Gogarth and the village of Pennal.
The entrance to the farmhouse opens into a small hallway with a staircase. To the left is the main lounge and dining area, while to the right is a second lounge, ideal as a children’s playroom. The main lounge is L-shaped, featuring a dining table that seats up to six people. Full of original character, the room boasts a large open stone fireplace with a multi-fuel stove, flanked by the original bread oven and salting hole. The space is furnished with two easy chairs and a leather suite and includes a TV, DVD, and VHS player for family entertainment.
The dining area leads through to a spacious, well-equipped kitchen with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It includes a washing machine, tumble dryer, Rayburn, electric hob and oven, toaster and kettle. A second table and chairs provide additional dining space and a back door opens onto a patio with outdoor furniture, perfect for enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The second lounge, located to the right of the property, is a cosy space for children with a sofa, armchair, gas fireplace, TV, VHS and DVD player.
Upstairs, the accommodation includes three bedrooms: one double room, one spacious twin room and a large master bedroom with a double bed. The family bathroom is generously sized and features a bath, power shower, sink and WC. Well-behaved dogs are welcome for a fee of £20 each (maximum of two), but please check with the owner in advance, as not all cottages on the property allow pets.
Set within Snowdonia National Park in a peaceful part of Mid Wales, the farmhouse offers stunning views over the Dyfi Estuary and the Cambrian Mountains. The Dyfi Valley is officially recognised as Wales’ only new-style UNESCO Biosphere, making this an exceptional location for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Scenic walks lead up to Pengarreg and continue to the mystical Bearded Lake, Llyn Barfog, steeped in Welsh folklore as the legendary site where King Arthur is said to have slain the water demon, the Afanc. Picturesque Aberdyfi with its golden beaches and the historic town of Machynlleth are just a short drive away, while nearby nature reserves like the Dyfi Osprey Project and RSPB sites provide excellent opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife spotting.
