Aberhyddnant Farm Cottages offer self catering holiday cottages situated just outside Crai in Powys. Our holiday cottages offer comfortable, well equipped accommodation, with splendid views, farm animals, wildlife, walks, fishing all on hand and many other activities in the locality. We have fresh spring water on tap, can supply our own organic meat and you may collect your organic free range eggs for breakfast everyday. There is no better place to stay when exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park.
About Aberhyddnant Farm CottagesBoth of the holiday homes have been converted from traditional stone barns and now offer well equipped and family friendly self catering accommodation for up to 10 people (when let together). They each include well equipped kitchens with a full sized electric cooker, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and coffee maker. There is a shared utility / boot room with washing machines and tumble drier (washing lines in the garden). The living rooms have TV with Sky Freeview, DVD player, and a CD / radio. Each holiday cottage has a collection of books, DVDs, CDs and board games and there is a shared playroom with table football together with a variety of other toys.
Guests are welcome to hire our holiday cottages individually or together to accommodate larger groups or for larger families. We can also offer Y Beudy as an extension to the holiday cottage; this gives you added space and a reception area where there is plenty of seating and tables.
Nyth Y Wennol
Once upon a time this cottage would have been a hive of activity as this is where the old dairy was situated. A long time ago this was where butter and cheese were made for home use and for sale. Nowadays it is a well appointed holiday home that can sleep up to 6 people and 2 infants. You will be guaranteed of a restful night’s sleep here as the bedding is soft rich cotton much of it Fairtrade and organic. The lovely soft duvets and pillows are filled with a material made from recycled plastic bottles.
Bryniau PellNowadays this is a cosy holiday home that can sleep up to 4 guests and 2 infants. It was converted from a cart shed and a hay loft (traditionally an ideal place for farm lads to court their true loves). An ideal place for families as it has a beautiful nursery which furnished with pine cot and cotbed with attractive bedding and has a starry blackout blind and double lined curtains for those long summer days. There is a nightlight on the landing and sockets in the nursery have protective covers.
This room has been sympathetically converted from former cow stalls with great bumpy walls and large French window looking across to the hills. The walls play host to pictures by local artists, all for sale, which are changed regularly.
A large room, Y Beudy, offers groups and families the opportunity to relax and dine together. This room has two large tables and four comfy sofas, an almost real log fire and a warm welcome. There is a TV for watching DVDs and a key board for your entertainment and as it is accessed through the playroom adults can relax together while the children play together
Groups staying and using Y Beudy may also be interested in a local chef, who can prepare meals to order and deliver to your cottage or come to the cottage prepare and serve a meal for a special occasion.
Local AreaWe are a fantastic holiday destination for families as there is plenty to see and do both on and off the farm. Throughout the year there are farming activities that take place which you are welcome to watch and maybe help. There are eggs to collect, in spring lambs to feed and of course there are the 220 acres of land with fields, streams and small wooded areas to explore and fire the imagination. The area is fantastic for walking and there are trails and routes to suit all ages and fitness levels. Whether you are looking for outdoor pursuits, open gardens, indoor activities or just relaxing - there is something for you not far away!
