Mountain Hall Cottages

Llanrhian, St Davids, Pembrokeshire

Sleeps 1-12
£300 - £1425

Our traditional Pembrokeshire stone-built Cow Byre (Y Beudy) and Grain Store (Ysgubor), have been converted into two holiday cottages that offer an escape to both the countryside and coast. Set in 8 acres, the accommodation has seclusion together with easy access to the beautiful and dramatic Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with its abundant beaches, wildlife, flora and fauna. Both properties are set in ample grounds with lawns and grassed areas.
The two barns form an L shape facing out onto a shared courtyard area overlooking the sea. There is ample private parking for several vehicles. Bordered by low Pembrokeshire hedge banks, the property has unrestricted, panoramic sea views looking out over the Pembrokeshire coast and Irish Sea – on a good day it is possible to see the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland and even the peaks of Snowdonia. The coast and Pembrokeshire Coastal Path are just a short walk away, as is the nearby cove of Aberfelin and the historic fishing village of Porthgain.
The cottages are located virtually equidistant from four public houses The Ship Inn, Trefin, The Sloop Inn, Porthgain, The Square and Compass Inn, Square and Compass and The Artramont Arms, Croesgoch. All can be walked to within half an hour or so (or less depending on how thirsty or hungry you are!) with the Ship Inn and Sloop Inn being the closest respectively. All serve good food and a selection of beers and are family friendly establishments.

Y Beudy (Cow Byre)

Converted from a traditional cow byre, Y Beudy is now a four bedroom property consisting of two double first floor bedrooms and two ground floor twin rooms. Both double rooms have en suite shower rooms. There is a ground floor bathroom with bath and shower unit. A sofa bed, which can accommodate an additional two persons, is located in the den on the ground floor. The large dining room has a vaulted ceiling with room for all to sit around the large oak dining table. The main lounge has French doors that open out on to a patio and small lawn.

Ysgubor (Grain Store)

Originally the farm grain store and mill house, Ysgubor has been converted into a two bedroom cottage with a double room on first floor with its own shower room and a twin room on the ground floor with its own bathroom. This property has a downstairs lounge adjoining the kitchen diner and also an upstairs sitting room leading on to a veranda. The upstairs sitting room also has a sofa bed, which can accommodate an additional two persons.

Local Area

It is just a short 15 minute car journey to the historic Cathedral City of St. Davids, or alternatively jump on one of the regular coastal bus services that run along the nearby coast roads. Relax and enjoy Britain’s smallest City with its acclaimed restaurants, tea rooms and shops. There is a small supermarket, family butcher and delicatessen for all those essential items, as well as gift shops and ice cream parlours.
There are several excellent bathing beaches nearby. Traethllyfn and Abereiddy being the closest with Whitesands and Newgale a little further. Both Whitesands and Newgale are popular, especially with surfers and both have RNLI lifeguards during the summer. Abereiddy is smaller and is famous for the ‘Blue Lagoon’ a flooded slate quarry – which was used to host the British leg of the Red Bull World Cliff Diving Championship; you are able to drive right up to the sea wall and parking is free.
Traethllyfn beach is a stunning beach, only accessible by walking either via the tracks through farm land or via the Pembrokeshire coast path from Porthgain or Abereiddy and then descending the 125 steps of the stairway down the cliff. Definitely worth a visit.
