Summary
Rufford Park Lodge once served as a hunting lodge in the grounds of the historic Rufford Abbey Estate in Newark, Nottinghamshire. It is now a luxury holiday cottage in the heart of the Sherwood Forest.
Accommodation
The accommodation is situated in The East Wing and comprises of a double en suite bedroom on the ground floor, two double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. One bathroom has a modern walk-in shower and the other has a jacuzzi/whirlpool bath and a corner steam shower enclosure, both of which can accommodate two people at a time.There are two reception rooms on the ground floor – a dining room with an extendable oak table that seats up to ten people, and a lounge with a leather sofa suite, a Sony 42″ flat screen TV with surround sound and Sky+ HD.
The dining room has French doors that open out onto decking which provides a comfortable seating area in the enclosed but ample courtyard. There is a hydrotherapy hot tub in one corner which is continuously heated and exclusively for your use during your stay, which is connected via a decked pathway which is illuminated at night.
We recommend that you bring your own beach towels and/or bathrobes as it is not practicable for us to provide these.
The property is surrounded by open farmland which provides an ever-changing 360 degree panorama, ensuring that it is different on every visit. A tree-lined private road leads up to the electric gates, behind which is ample parking for three cars on the gravel drive (more can be accommodated on the grass).
The Area
Rufford Park Lodge is situated in what used to be the grounds of Rufford Abbey, which is a short drive or twenty-minute walk away, accessible via the private road that runs past the cottage. Rufford Golf and Country Club is accessible from the same road.The nearest pub is Rose Cottage which is also walking distance and is on the Rufford Road junction with the A614, opposite the entrance to Rufford Abbey. Old Ollerton is a short drive or cab ride away and has a historic old mill open to the public with one of the best tea rooms around, and is home to a number of traditional village pubs. Try the White Hart for great value Samuel Smiths and village atmosphere.
