West Ord Holiday Cottages are located just outside the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland. Our holiday cottages are peacefully located in lovely countryside and are ideal for families and those taking a break from the stress of modern life.
With a choice of 6 comfortable cottages, the available accommodation can cater for a total of 25 people.
Shepherds CottageSleeps 6. Is detached and has ample parking for two cars to the front and a fenced garden (which is mainly lawn and very safe for children playing) to the rear. Garden furniture and a barbeque are also provided. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with double bed the other with twin beds. A third bedroom with "zip and link" beds can provide either twin or double sleeping for two people on the ground floor. Bathroom is upstairs and has an over-bath shower. Living room / dining room has ample comfortable seating and a dining area. There is also a LCD TV with DVD. Kitchen is fully equipped with double oven and hob, fridge / freezer, microwave, dishwasher, automatic washing machine and tumble drier. A shower room is also located on the ground floor, providing level access shower, and toilet/wash basin facilities for guests with mobility problems. Double-glazed and carpeted throughout. One dog is welcome in Shepherds Cottage.
Two Riverside CottagesSouth Bells Shiel - a riverside cottage sleeping 5. South Bells Shiel is only available from April until the end of October. South Bells Shiel has accommodation on two floors. Living room with large open fireplace, antique pine table and chairs, easy chairs, and LCD TVwith DVD. Kitchenette to one end of the main living room accommodates sink, electric cooker, microwave, fridge and storage cupboards. Shower room downstairs with toilet and hand wash basin. Super king size bed or twins are available. Heating is provided by a log fire in the living room, there are also panel heaters with timer switches. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
Geary Shiel – a lovely riverside cottage. Accommodation all on the ground floor. Living room with large open fireplace, antique pine table and chairs, easy chairs and a LCD TV with DVD. Kitchenette in solid pine to one end of the living room accommodates electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washer / drier. Shower room downstairs with toilet and hand wash basin. Super king size bed or twins are available. Heating is provided by a log burning stove in the living room, there is also a storage heater and panel heaters with timer switches. Sorry, no dogs allowed.
Three Terraced CottagesThis is a row of three cottages, Eden (sleeps 2), Till (sleeps 4) and Tweed (sleeps 5), located on a quiet side road which leads to the river.
There is a shared back green with picnic tables, which runs the length of the cottages and provides a pleasant area to sit in and enjoy the sunshine; this, however, is not fenced off from the road for smaller children. There is ample parking to the front of each cottage.
Eden Cottage - a terraced cottage sleeping 2. Eden cottage is the first cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor, ideal for a couple. Sitting room with large comfortable sofa and arm chair, and a small dining area, flat screen T.V, DVD player and C.D/radio system. Kitchen is fully equipped with hob and double oven, fridge with ice-making compartment, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. Bathroom with bath, hand wash basin and toilet. Bedroom with double bed. Heating in the cottage is by storage heaters and slim-line panel heaters with timer switches, and an log burner for colder times of year. One dog is welcome in Eden Cottage.
Till Cottage - a terraced cottage sleeping 4. Till Cottage is the middle cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor. Sitting room tastefully furnished with large comfortable armchairs and sofa, log burner for colder times of year. There is a flat screen T.V and DVD player. Kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and washer / drier. There is a dining area in the kitchen with patio doors to the garden. Bathroom with bath plus over-bath shower, hand wash basin and toilet. Bedroom one with double bed. Bedroom two with twin beds. Heating in the cottage is by storage heaters and slim-line panel heaters with timer switches, and a log burner for colder times of year. One dog is welcome in Till Cottage.
Tweed Cottage - a terraced cottage sleeping 5. Tweed Cottage is the last cottage in the row of three. All the accommodation is on the ground floor. Sitting room tastefully furnished with large comfortable armchairs and sofa, log burner for colder times of year. There is a flat screen T.V with DVD player. Kitchen fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge / freezer, dishwasher and washer / drier. There is a dining area in the kitchen with patio doors to the garden. Bathroom with bath plus over-bath shower, wash hand basin and toilet. Bedroom one with double bed. Bedroom two with three single beds. Heating in the cottage is by storage heaters and slim-line panel heaters with timer switches, and a log burner for colder times of year. One dog is welcome in Tweed Cottage.
FacilitiesFishing is available for guests on our own stretch of the River Tweed, hard surface tennis court, beautiful riverside walks, restaurants and pubs within a 10 minute drive. Children welcome. Very comprehensive local information provided in each cottage.
General InformationGarden furniture and barbeques available at all the cottages. Bed linen is supplied in all the cottages and each bed has a duvet and two pillows per person. Bath towels are provided in all the cottages, and consist of one per person booked to stay, plus 2 handtowels per bathroom/toilet. Electric blankets are supplied on all beds at cooler times of the year. Hairdryers are provided in each cottage. Tea towels, dish cloths, toilet rolls and cleaning agents are provided in all the cottages. Cots and high chairs are available on request. Please bring your own cot bedding. Out of season arrangements can be made for log fires in all the cottages - this is inclusive of the rental. Electricity: the first £10 of electricity is included in the rental. Anything over that will be charged for at the end of the stay. We also have a tennis court available.
PetsOne well behaved dog is welcome in each of Eden, Till, Tweed and Shepherds Cottages at the owner's discretion. The dog may not be left unattended in the property, allowed on the furniture or in the bedroom. Guests are respectfully asked to exercise their dogs away from the back lawns and cut roadside verges. There is a charge of £20 for a dog.
Visiting Berwick-upon-tweed & Exploring NotherumberlandWithin a 10 minute drive of our cosy holiday cottages, you can have access to miles of stunning sandy Northumbrian beaches, Cocklawburn Beach is on our doorstep, The Holy Island of Lindisfarne a 10 minute drive, Bamburgh and the Farne Islands are half an hour’s drive away and to the north of Berwick-upon-Tweed the fabulous rocky cliffs and promontories that are St.Abb's Head, Coldingham Bay and Eyemouth.
Enjoy activities such as fishing on our own stretch of river, playing tennis on our own court, walking, cycling, swimming, horse riding, or simply relaxing on the wonderful unspoilt beaches.
