Levisham, Pickering, North Yorkshire
Lilac Farm is situated in the picturesque village of Levisham within the North York Moors National Park. We are happy to show our visitors around the farmyard. There may be a pet lamb to feed or perhaps you would like to gather eggs for your breakfast from our small flock of free range hens.
Harvest Cottage, Stable Cottage, Lilac Cottage & End House Farm are adjacent self-contained properties which may be booked together for a larger family group.
The comfortable self catering accommodation in all properties is equipped and furnished to high standard, with storage radiators throughout ensuring that they are cosy at all times of the year.
Harvest Cottage : Sleeps 2+ cot. Overlooking the garden this one bedroom cottage was formerly used as a grain store for Lilac Farm. It comprises an open plan ground floor with well equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with ensuite facilities consisting of shower cubicle with electric shower, wash handbasin and toilet.
Stable Cottage : Sleeps 2+ cot. Adjacent to Harvest Cottage this cottage is the conversion of a stable used for the working horses on the farm. It comprises an open plan ground floor with well equipped kitchen, dining and lounge area with stairs leading to the first floor. There is a galleried twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The bathroom has a bath with electric shower, wash hand basin and toilet.
End House Farm : Sleeps 7 + cot. A spacious stone built former farmhouse overlooking the village green. It comprises a small entrance hall, large lounge with open fireplace, dining room, well equipped kitchen, utility room and toilet. On the first floor there is a twin bedroom, one double bedroom and a family room with a double and a single bed, bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and wash basin, separate toilet.
Lilac Cottage : Sleeps 5 + cot. The 18th century stone cottage has beamed ceilings and window seats in ground floor rooms. It comprises a small entrance hall, large well equipped kitchen/dining room, lounge with open stone feature fire place. The lounge overlooks the large village green. On the first floor there is one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, and one single bedroom, also a bathroom with bath, wash hand basin and toilet.
Levisham is a picturesque village set in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. It has an inn offering meals and children are welcome. There is also an attractive village church. The village is one mile from Levisham Station on the North York Moors Steam Railway, which runs through the beautiful scenery of Newtondale between Pickering and Grosmont. The trains also stop at Goathland where the T.V. series "Heartbeat" is filmed.
Near to the holiday cottages is the market town of Pickering, where you will find a variety of shops including a supermarket, Post Office and several banks. Pickering also has a heated indoor swimming pool with flume, a sports centre and cinema. Flamingoland Zoo and Fun Park is close by. Within easy reach by car is the historic walled city of York with Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre, museums and numerous shops for you to visit.
In the area surrounding the self catering cottages there are many castles, abbeys and stately homes including Castle Howard ( home of Brideshead Revisited ). On Yorkshire's Heritage coast the seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough have good sandy beaches with Robin Hood's Bay and other quaint fishing villages all only a short drive away.
Rates : From £195 to £695 per week depending on season & unit.
