Ewe Time Holiday Barn is a beautifully restored stone barn in the centre of Kelbrook, on the dramatic border between Yorkshire and Lancashire. Surrounded by rolling moorland yet tucked within a peaceful village, the property blends rustic charm with contemporary comfort, creating an inviting base for gatherings of family and friends. Sleeping up to twenty guests, with room for four additional visitors by arrangement, the barn offers generous living space, a wood-fired hot tub and a welcoming log burner, making it just as appealing for a summer celebration as for a cosy winter reunion.
Step through the oak-framed entrance into a vast open-plan living hall where centuries-old beams soar above warm flagstones. At one end, plush sofas circle a large wood-burning stove, perfect for fireside chats after a day on the hills, at the other there is a pool table for friendly competition. French doors lead straight to the patio and garden, where the wood-fired hot tub waits beneath big northern skies.
The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering on a grand scale, boasting a range cooker, American-style fridge-freezer, two dishwashers and ample preparation space. A twelve-seat farmhouse table stands beside another eight-seat refectory table, so everyone can dine together in comfort.
Bedrooms are arranged over two floors, each thoughtfully furnished with crisp linen and village or moorland views. Five spacious doubles, two twins and two flexible family rooms provide sleeping for twenty; several rooms have zip-link beds to adapt to your party’s needs and extra sofa-beds can be prepared for up to four further guests. There are five contemporary bath or shower rooms in total, including an accessible wet room on the ground floor.
Practical touches include a large boot room for muddy wellies, a utility area with washer and dryer, high-speed Wi-Fi throughout and under-floor heating powered by an eco-friendly biomass system. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and will appreciate the secure rear garden that backs on to grazing fields.
Kelbrook sits at the meeting point of the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland, both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From the doorstep you can join the Pennine Bridleway, follow the Leeds and Liverpool Canal or tackle Pendle Hill for spellbinding panoramas. Colne and Skipton are minutes away for independent shops and historic markets, while the heritage steam trains of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway make an easy day out. Cyclists will love the quiet lanes over to Malham Cove and walkers can roam miles of heather moor, limestone scars and hidden waterfalls. After exploring, return to the village for a pint in the traditional inn or simply sink into the hot tub and watch the stars emerge over the fells.
