Auchengray, Lanark, Lanarkshire
Muirhall Holiday Cottages are a collection of 4 cottages on Muirhall Farm. They are outside of Auchengray. This small village is a short drive from Lanark town. It is less than a 30 minute drive to Forth, Biggar, Carnwath and Lanark. The farm has plenty of gardens and grounds to enjoy.
The ShireThe Shire was once home to the shire horses that worked the farm land. It now provides accommodation for 4 people. There is a double en suite on the ground floor. It has a roll top bath with claw feet. The 2nd double has its own balcony that overlooks the lounge.
There is a large stone fireplace in the lounge, oak beams and plenty of comfy seating.
The HayloftAs the name suggests, this was where the mown hay was stored. This cottage can sleep 4 people and is well suited to a family. There is a double and a twin bedroom that both have comfy beds. As you enter the Hayloft your eye is immediately taken by the wood bridge between the 2 upstairs bedrooms. There is an open plan kitchen with a 1 of a kind table made from a burr elm tree trunk. The lounge has large patio doors.
The RuinThis is the most spacious cottage and dates back to the 16th Century. The bedrooms are located on either side of the lounge. The holiday cottage can sleep up to 4 people in a double and a twin bedroom.
The ByreAccessed through a handmade stable door, the cottage is a romantic retreat for 2 people. An unusual feature in this cottage is the "children's door" which opens out into a BBQ area. The staircase with a ranch-style balustrade leads up to a bedroom with a full size dormer window.
