Seaside is a renovated, luxury detached property located right on the shoreline in Broadford on the Isle of Skye. This stunning home offers panoramic views across the bay to the hills and mountains of the Scottish mainland.
Inside, the property offers an exceptional standard of comfort. The entrance porch includes coat hooks and leads into a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. From here, guests enter the main hallway, which connects to a downstairs toilet and provides access to all ground floor spaces. The layout is spacious yet cosy, combining modern amenities with the charm of traditional architecture.
The dining area can be accessed directly from the hallway or through double doors from the kitchen and it flows openly into the lounge. A deep-set window in the original croft house wall offers a view out to sea and the dining table comfortably seats six, with the option to extend for larger gatherings, especially if booked alongside the neighbouring one-bedroom cottage, Seaside Beag. Underfloor heating keeps the space warm and inviting.
The lounge is a highlight of the house, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the outdoors in. Located just metres from the high tide line, the lounge offers a front-row seat to coastal wildlife, including wading birds and occasionally sea otters playing on the rocks. Two comfortable sofas and armchairs provide a relaxing setting for taking in the scenery or enjoying a cosy evening by the wood-burning stove. The lounge also includes a 32” TV with CD/DVD/Blu-ray player, iPod dock, and a surround sound system. Underfloor heating ensures comfort in every season.
The kitchen and breakfast room is a bright and airy space, accessed from the hall or dining area. Designed with both function and style in mind, it features twin eye-level ovens, an electric hob, fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A breakfast table and six chairs offer a casual dining space, while high ceilings and full-height windows frame uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains. The ever-changing skies provide a stunning backdrop and underfloor heating adds to the comfort and warmth.
Also on the ground floor is a well-appointed double bedroom with a king-size bed and a window overlooking the garden and sea toward Waterloo and the hills beyond. The en-suite includes a powerful shower, vanity unit and WC. Heating is provided by a central radiator in the bedroom and underfloor heating with a towel rail in the bathroom.
Upstairs, the galleried landing opens to two further double bedrooms, both with king-size beds and en-suite facilities. One bedroom has spectacular dual views, looking directly out to sea and across the bay. Its en-suite shower room features a powerful shower, vanity unit, WC, underfloor heating and a heated towel rail. The second bedroom overlooks the bay and has an en-suite bathroom with a luxurious double-ended bath, overhead shower, vanity unit and WC. This room also benefits from central heating and heated bathroom flooring for added comfort.
Outside, the garden includes a level lawn bordered by a low stone wall, with the shoreline just beyond. A timber deck and round picnic bench are perfectly positioned to catch the sun throughout the day while offering uninterrupted sea views. There is also a raised area with a bench, ideal for enjoying a quiet moment as you take in the surroundings.
A short flight of stone steps leads directly from the garden down to the sea shore. Here, guests can explore rock pools, discover sea life and observe geological features and fossils among the rocky outcrops. A sheltered seating area at the base of the steps provides a peaceful spot to unwind, while sea otters are known to visit the area and can sometimes be seen from the garden or through the large windows inside the house.
Despite its sense of seclusion and tranquillity, the house is just a short stroll from local pubs, restaurants and a supermarket, making it both peaceful and convenient. Broadford is ideally located as a base for exploring Skye, but with such captivating views and inviting interiors, guests may find it hard to leave the house. Places to visit include:
