Portland House is a Grade II listed property, situated in a rural location. Our holiday home can be found within the Herefordshire village of Whitchurch in the Wye Valley, near Ross on Wye. This charming house provides spacious and luxurious accommodation in an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty.


Our wonderful house has been tastefully furnished, whilst retaining its original character. The 3 storey property can sleep up to 22 people in a variety of relaxing and comfortable suites, making us one of the best venues for family and groups. We have a number of stunning rooms available, ranging from double and triple en suite rooms to family rooms for up to 4 people. Spectacular rural rooms are available from most bedrooms.

There is a large living room which includes a log fire and a dining room that can seat 20. The open plan kitchen/breakfast room is well equipped with:

2 microwaves
Seating for 8.

The house benefits from having a utility room and boot room with washing facilities.

All rooms have a TV and Wi-Fi internet access. Some room also have a DVD player.

A small conservatory overlooks the pretty garden and has an access door. Outside there is an enclosed garden which has seating and a BBQ and features a hot tub - perfect to relax in with a glass of bubbly!

Visiting Whitchurch & Exploring Herefordshire

Whitchurch is nestled in the Wye Valley, amidst an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are close to the famous Symonds Yat Rock and Gorge on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean and surrounded by many beautiful walking routes. There is plenty of glorious countryside and scenery to explore.

The River Wye is just five minutes away on foot where fishing and canoeing can be enjoyed. Being 5 mins from the official route of The Wye Valley Walk, there are wonderful walks direct from our door and we have a large box full of documented walks in the area available.

**Coronavirus 2020 – Portland House
We thought it important to provide visitors to our advertisement with some initial information on how we are currently addressing this serious situation
Firstly, after seeking all the appropriate advice available, we have undertaken a NEW risk assessment of the key issues relating to a large group of people arriving, staying and departing from Portland House with Coronavirus still yet to peak.
Anyone who makes an enquiry for dates that are still available in 2020 on our calendar can receive details about our hygiene plan. We are proud that our hygiene rating is high anyway, but our Housekeeper and her team have amended and upgraded their processes on ‘deep clean’ to take into account the survival rate of this Virus on various surfaces, and the length of time between group departures and arrivals.
We have considered what would be major concerns and worries of guests and put measures in place for those also. That said, each guest has a personal responsibility also, and applying the highest personal hygiene behaviour to their stay is important and expected.
For the guests who have already booked we will keep them up to date. We also advise that if they haven’t taken advantage of buying insurance from our booking system, it would be sensible now to so do. The same applies to people considering booking with us.**
