Whitecroft, Lydney, Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean
Claysun House is a stunning riverside property in West Gloucestershire, at Whitecroft near Lydney - in the heart of what can arguably be called the most unspoiled part of the UK. This unique and newly renovated property was launched in September 2019 and offers everything you, your friends and family will need for a luxurious and relaxing breakaway.
About Claysun HouseGreat care and attention have been paid to every detail when renovating and refurbishing this lovely Victorian property. With chic interiors & all mod cons, Claysun House is a gorgeous addition to the luxury holiday home rental market within the area. One of the 'wow factor' features of the property is the open-plan, south-facing “basement” which has been lovingly restored. Here you will find:
Huge family kitchen/dining room.
TV den (perfect for the kids).
Large sunny conservatory.
Utility room with washer, dryer and downstairs loo.
WiFi internet access throughout.
The kitchen itself has a large kitchen range, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, juicer, food mixer and about every other appliance you will need to prepare family meals. It even has a luxurious dog bed for the four-legged members of the family!
The middle floor has a large sitting room with huge wall-mounted TV, as well as a further snug drawing room with cosy log-burner.
The house can sleep up to 8 people in 4 bedrooms, all of which are en suite and have a TV. A wonderful roll-top bath can be found in one of the en suite facilities - a fantastic place to soak after a day exploring the surrounding area. The master bedroom also has a dressing room, and the beds in this room can be changed into singles if required.
Outside is a gated garden, providing a secure space for dogs and children to play. Enjoy breathtaking views across the Forest of Dean, while overlooking the River Lyd running gently past the end of the cottage lawn. Watch trout swim by, spot kingfishers, the ducks and a plethora of wildlife, all from within a securely fenced space.
And to make Claysun absolutely perfect, there is a fabulous freehold pub, The Miners Arms 100 yards down the road, serving excellent local food, beers and ciders and 50 yards the other way is a fish and chip shop and Chinese takeaway if you don't feel like doing the cooking!

Recent ReviewsThe Gahans: Christmas 2019
We had a family gathering at Claysun House and, at no point were we left disappointed. Superb property boasting every appliance you could think of or need. As our break included Christmas Day, we asked about decorations - we were informed that the house was "decked out". It was! thoroughly! We had three infants with the group and 1 small dog - all of them had been left a stocking with gifts and a treat for the dog; a beautiful and very thoughtful hamper was left for the adults (thank you). Our Christmas gathering was important to us; but, Claysun House made it exceptional and even more memorable! Thank you Lady B and Ginny, we were not left wanting for anything!!! See you again xx
Mrs HappyGranny: November 2019
Claysun House is perfect for enjoying everything in the area! The house is fabulously decorated and super cosy and comfortable and easily big enough to lose 8 people and a couple of dogs in! The kitchen is the star of the show, like something from an interiors mag opening on to a lovely sunny garden with an amazing view. The pubs literally 100yrds away with fab food and very friendly. The kids loved hiring bikes and the steam train was a real highlight. This is by far the best holiday cottage we’ve rented and everything was so smooth and everyone so helpful. The only thing missing was the gin. (Which we bought!). We’ll definitely be back.
