Summary

If you are looking for comfortable, homely cottage situated in relaxing, beautiful surroundings then Burnside Cottage is the place for you. Burnside Cottage lies in the sleepy hamlet of Newton of Falkland, located one mile from the historic town of Falkland.

Situated at the foot of the Lomond Hills, the Newton of Falkland is known historically for its brewing and malting, but is ready for you to make your own memories in it.

The house itself is fully wheelchair accessible, however, there are a set of stairs that lead up to the two bedrooms which may cause problems for the wheelchair user. If there is a wheelchair user in your party, let us know and we will be more than happy to get a pull out bed that can be situated in the living room for your convenience.

Falkland
A 15 minute walk and two minute dirve away, is a fantastic town to visit whether you wish to explore the wilderness of one of the many walks up the Lomond Hills or the towns vast estate or if you want to visit the towns historic Palace, Falkland is a revelation.
The Palace was home to many Scottish Monarchs, with Mary Queen of Scots being the last to enjoy residency there once upon a time.
The town also consistently wins prestigious awards such as Beautiful Scotland and Britain in Bloom. Most notably, the town was awarded a Gold award in the Europe wide Entente Florale contest.

Freuchie
A mile in the other direction from the Newton of Falkland, the delightful town of Freuchie will be found. An attractive town which boasts an excellent shop that opens until late, Bridgend Garden Centre, Bridgend Services - which is open 24 hours a day, and two pubs - the traditional Albert Tavern and the Lomond Hills which also has leisure centre facilities.

Ladybank
Ladybank boasts an 18 hole golf course and the oldest unaltered train station which runs to Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen
The town developed in the latter part of the 19th century, where bulding began from the railway junction. Unknown to the builders the railway had been built on drained bogland which was known to locals as Lady's Bog. Rather than give this name to the newly formed town, it was decided that Ladybank was a little more attractive!
