Brickwall Farm offers self-catering accommodation set on the outskirts of the village of Sible Hedingham, near Halstead in Essex. Guests can enjoy a range of on-site facilities, including a hard tennis court, a private coarse fishing lake, sixty acres of open meadows and a heated swimming pool during their stay. The accommodation itself is housed within a converted barn, now thoughtfully divided into two holiday cottages. Each cottage retains character features such as exposed beams and wooden and tiled flooring, while also offering stylish interiors and high-quality furnishings for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Patsy’s Cottage offers comfortable accommodation across two floors, with a first-floor double bedroom featuring a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, alongside a ground-floor twin bedroom with an en-suite wet-room shower suitable for less mobile or disabled guests. The cottage includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a television, and a well-equipped kitchen fitted with a pod coffee machine, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. Guests also have access to a shared laundry room in an adjoining building, complete with a washing machine and tumble dryer, while central heating ensures year-round comfort. Outside, there is a paved patio area with a table and chairs for relaxing.
Jo’s Cottage features a first-floor double bedroom with a four-poster bed and a spacious en-suite shower room, offering a comfortable and characterful place to stay. The cottage includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a television, creating a relaxed and sociable space. The kitchen is well equipped with a pod coffee machine, electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge, while guests also have access to a shared laundry room in an adjoining building with a washing machine and tumble dryer. Central heating runs throughout the property for year-round comfort and outside there is a paved patio area with a table and chairs, perfect for enjoying time outdoors.
Guests can enjoy a range of excellent on-site facilities during their stay, including a heated outdoor swimming pool open from Easter to October, weather permitting. The pool is located at the top of the farmhouse garden, as well as sun loungers for relaxing on warmer days and is shared with the other holiday cottage and owners. There is also a well-maintained hard tennis court with a selection of adult and children’s racquets and balls available to use. For those who enjoy fishing, a one-and-a-half-acre lake is available year-round for relaxed, family-friendly fishing, stocked with rudd, roach, bream and a few carp. In addition, a converted play barn next to the cottages provides a sheltered space for recreation, featuring table tennis, a pool table and various toys, making it ideal for keeping everyone entertained, especially on rainy days. There is also a BBQ available and firepit.
Sible Hedingham is a charming Essex village with plenty to explore both locally and nearby. A highlight is Hedingham Castle, one of the best-preserved Norman keeps in England, set within beautiful grounds and hosting regular events. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and cycling, with quiet lanes and scenic trails to enjoy. Nearby, the market town of Halstead offers independent shops, cafés and riverside walks, while the historic villages of Finchingfield and Castle Hedingham are well worth a visit for their picturesque greens, traditional pubs and quintessential English charm.
