Situated in the village of Leeming Bar, The Roost Retreat is a charming and secluded holiday annexe that blends rustic character with a warm, cosy atmosphere. Set on the edge of the stunning Yorkshire Dales, it provides a peaceful escape while remaining conveniently close to the market towns of Bedale, Northallerton, Masham, Leyburn and Richmond, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside and attractions.
Set back from the road, this peaceful and inviting holiday retreat is thoughtfully arranged across two separate yet connected spaces, each full of charm and character. The main living area, once an orangery, still features its original wooden beam and is decorated with subtle poultry-themed touches that reflect its heritage as part of a working farm. Through elegant French-style doors, the main accommodation reveals a luxurious king-size four-poster bed accompanied by comfortable seating, creating a relaxing space to unwind. An en-suite shower room includes a spacious cubicle with a rain shower, while a compact but well-equipped Butler’s Kitchen allows guests to enjoy drinks and light refreshments at any time, with a selection of teas and treats provided. The retreat is fully double glazed and benefits from blackout curtains for added comfort, while offering pleasant views over the well-stocked front garden and the parkland beyond. Guests can also enjoy a private outdoor patio with seating, a parasol, barbecue and their own side entrance, with a fire pit available on request.
The Roost Retreat is ideally located just a two-minute drive from the charming market town of Bedale, which offers a selection of independent shops, welcoming pubs, cosy cafés and the Michelin Guide-listed fine dining restaurant Hansoms. Right on the doorstep, guests can also enjoy the Wensleydale Heritage Railway, with Leeming Bar Station located just across the road, providing scenic journeys through the countryside up to Leyburn. Nearby Northallerton remains a popular destination, known for its vibrant High Street, family-run department store Barkers, renowned delicatessen Lewis & Cooper and the iconic Bettys Tea Room. The surrounding area also offers a variety of attractions including the historic Kiplin Hall, the peaceful Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park, and beautiful outdoor spaces such as Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Thornborough Henges and Scorton Lakes, all ideal for leisurely walks with dogs on leads. Just five minutes away, Thorp Perrow Arboretum provides another lovely setting to explore, with its extensive collection of trees and tranquil grounds.
