Starre House is a beautifully restored historic residence that blends exceptional quality with timeless character. Dating back to 1502 and constructed from the distinctive local Beer stone, it holds a special place as the village’s earliest home, reflecting a long and storied past.
Throughout the house, original features have been carefully retained, including exposed timber beams, aged wood panelling and several fireplaces, with two striking inglenooks that add both charm and a cosy, atmospheric feel.
The house offers a range of generous and welcoming living spaces, including a spacious lounge with large leather sofas, a striking fireplace and a chess board, perfect for relaxed gatherings. There is also a cosy snug, a separate TV room for movie nights and a well-equipped games room featuring a pool table. The kitchen is both stylish and practical, centred around a large island and fitted with modern appliances, making it ideal for social cooking and dining.
Guests can enjoy meals either at the large indoor dining table or outside in the garden, where a charming seating area and lawn games such as croquet add to the experience. The house features five comfortable bedrooms, including four king-size rooms and one double, along with four well-appointed bathrooms, one of which includes a classic cast-iron bathtub, ensuring a restful and enjoyable stay.
Beer is a charming coastal village on Devon’s Jurassic Coast, known for its shingle beach, working fishing boats and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can explore the fascinating Beer Quarry Caves, where stone has been mined since Roman times, or enjoy scenic walks along the South West Coast Path with stunning sea views. Nearby, the seaside town of Seaton offers a lovely promenade and the popular Seaton Tramway, while a short drive takes you to Branscombe, one of England’s prettiest villages, with its thatched cottages and unspoilt countryside.
