Wattisfield, Diss, Suffolk

Sleeps 1-4

Summary

Two beautiful holiday cottages in the idyllic village of Wattisfield, surrounded by tranquillity and nature. Lovingly decorated and fully self contained, these two cottages provide the perfect setting for your holiday. Situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border there’s plenty to explore and do – from leisurely days to enjoying the local towns, history and coast. Whether you’re on your own, a couple, a family or a group of friends with options for twin and double beds and additional sofa beds there’s room for everyone.

Plus we have south facing patio gardens overlooking the pond. They’re the perfect location. Our cottages all come with free WI-FI and excellent amenities.

Woodpecker & Kingfisher Cottages

With an M3a mobility rating these two semi detached cottages are on one level with low thresholds and wider doors giving them an M3a mobility rating and suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Each cottage has one twin bedroom (or a double if requested) a large walk in shower/wet room and an open plan kitchen/living area. One of the sofas converts to a small sofa bed to provide additional sleeping for maximum occupancy of 4 people. The cottages overlook a wildlife pond where bird life is encouraged with feeders and nest boxes and an annual influx of ducklings and young moorhens are usually happy to help tidy up any breakfast crumbs. (Please note the pond is unfenced and may not be suitable for young children)

Both cottages have ample parking, a private patio garden and free WI-FI. The cottages are open to all, with dogs accepted by prior arrangement. Additional aids for mobility with handrails, high backed chair, bed raisers and shower chairs available. Guests also have the option of arranging rental of a hot tub for the duration of their stay.

Visiting Wattisfield & Exploring Suffolk

The cottages are centrally located in between Bury St Edmunds, Diss, Thetford and Stowmarket; and within easy driving distance of the Norfolk Broads and the Norfolk / Suffolk Heritage coastline. They are ideally placed for exploring the region.

The local area is good for walking and cycling, with many footpaths, quiet lanes and byways to explore and plenty of village pubs along the way. Many of East Anglia’s pretty villages and historic houses and gardens are within easy reach and there is a wide variety of attractions and days out to choose from.

Locally there are two pubs just a mile down the road in Walsham le Willows where the Blue Boar offers a restaurant and large garden. Within a 5 minute drive there is a farm shop. Co-op store, post office, Doctor and pharmacy and also a Chinese Restaurant and Fish and Chip shop.

Further afield are the coastal walks and beaches from Yarmouth down to popular Southwold and the meandering waterways and villages of the Norfolk Broads. Additionally a shopping excursion or day at races can all be found less than an hour away at Norwich, Ipswich and Newmarket.

All hard surfaces will be cleaned with an anti bac cleaner
The bathroom will be cleaned with a bleach cleaner
Soft furnishings will be sprayed and washable covers used where possible.
Some items will be removed from the cottage to minimise touch surfaces e.g. books, magazines etc, so it may feel a little emptier than usual. Items that are left in e.g. cushions will be either cleaned or swapped out on a turnabout basis.
I will provide a antibac cleaner and hand sanitiser for your convenience.

Arrival

On the day of your arrival I will place the key in the back of the door, and you will be able to go straight in and make yourselves at home.
A welcome tray is provided upon request, these edible products contain, dairy, sugar, wheat flour, fruit.
Your crockery can be found in the dishwasher and can be placed in the wall rack/hooks provided
Cushions for the outside chairs are tucked beside the sofa, please bring them inside if rain is forecast.
You are welcome to enjoy your patio garden and the pond, but ask that you do not encroach on the privacy of the people in the cottage next door.
We hope you will enjoy the bird life and please let us know if your feeders are empty. The ducks and moorhens make use of the bird feeders and you will undoubtedly have visitors so there is a jar of seed on the table if you would like to feed, but we ask that you do is sparingly and don’t feed human food (as leftover food attracts rats) and warn that they have messy bathroom habits!

While I am sure we will see you to wave to and have a chat over the fence, we would ask that if you have any problems during your stay that you contact us by phone. With your agreement we would prefer to undertake any maintenance / repairs while you are out, unless it's urgent.

For your information the health centre / pharmacy is a 10 minute drive in Botesdale and appointments must be booked on 01379 898295 from 8.30am.

Departure

Please can you strip the beds and place all the linen and towels in a basket/bag I will provide
Please empty all your bins and place the rubbish bags in the wheelie bins just inside the gate.
Please do not leave any unused food items, cloths, plastic bags or other items in the cottage.
Please load the dishwasher with the crockery and cutlery before you leave.
If you feel able to give the touch surfaces in the cottage a quick clean with the antibac cleaner before you leave, I would appreciate that small effort to protect me before I come in for the deep clean.

I hope the additional precautions give you the confidence to enjoy the cottage and wish you a happy holiday.
