Stay in the character cottage of Birchbank Cottage situated in an undiscovered part of the Lake District near Coniston Water. This stone built beamed cottage is on a Lakeland sheep farm in open countryside only half a mile from the Cumbria Way.
Accommodation
The cottage is semi-detached to the farmhouse. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with washbasin and a view over the fells, and a twin bedded room, both with panel heaters. On the ground floor there is a lounge/kitchen/dining room which is well furnished and includes a TV and DVD player. Heating is by storage radiator and electric woodburning effect stove. Also on the ground floor is the bathroom, with a shower over the bath, WC, washbasin and heated towel rail.There is a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. A cot, high chair and a stair gate are available. Bedlinen and towels are provided, please bring your own bedding for the cot.
The Area
There is plenty to see and do in the area, with something for all ages. There are many footpaths and bridleways around Birchbank from which you can enjoy the marvellous views over the Duddon Estuary and Coniston Old Man, with only the sheep and birds for company. Birchbank is only two miles from the A5092 along an unfenced road giving easy access to the whole of the Lake District. Places to visit nearby include:Laurel & Hardy Museum.

Lakeland Miniature Village.
Lakes Aquarium.
Cycle storage is available and there is parking for two cars

Dogs welcome by arrangement at a cost of £15 per week but must not be left unattended and should be kept on the lead when outside because of the sheep.
