Summary

Located just outside the market town of Hertford, Dalmonds Barns offers four self-catering holiday cottages, making it an ideal base for exploring both rural Hertfordshire and central London. The setting provides a peaceful countryside escape while still being within easy reach of the capital.

The 4-star accommodation is situated within a conservation area on a working farm, surrounded by open fields and woodland. The original barns have been carefully and thoughtfully converted into five charming cottages, retaining a wealth of exposed beams and many original features. Throughout the conversion, a strong emphasis has been placed on ensuring comfort and convenience, creating welcoming spaces for guests to relax and enjoy their stay.

Sunnybrooks

This cottage features original beams and offers two large bedrooms, both with fitted wardrobes and flexible sleeping arrangements that can be set up as either twin or double beds. The main bedroom includes an en-suite toilet and shower, while the second bedroom is spacious enough to accommodate a full-size folding bed, alongside a family bathroom serving the property. Sunnybrook’s living room is comfortably furnished with two settees, a dining table with chairs and a television with DVD player, creating a relaxing and sociable space. The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped with a full-size hob and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier, along with all the necessary cooking utensils and crockery for a convenient and enjoyable stay.

Badgers

Badgers is a spacious cottage designed to accommodate up to five guests, featuring two generously sized bedrooms with fitted wardrobes and flexible bed configurations that can be arranged as either twins or doubles. One bedroom benefits from an en-suite shower, while the other offers enough space to include an additional full-size folding bed, alongside access to a family bathroom. The living area is warm and inviting, furnished with two comfortable sofas, a dining table with chairs and a television with DVD player, creating an ideal setting for relaxing or socialising. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances including a full-size hob and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier, as well as all essential cookware and crockery.

Hay Barn

This cottage features two well-appointed bedrooms, making it a flexible option for families or small groups. One bedroom includes a double bed along with a convenient half bathroom fitted with a toilet and wash basin and there is additional space to accommodate a folding bed if needed. The second bedroom can be arranged as either a double or twin room and includes a fitted wardrobe, while a family bathroom with a shower over the bath serves the rest of the property. The living area is bright and welcoming, with a spacious dual-aspect layout that fills the room with natural light, and is furnished with two comfortable sofas, a dining table with chairs and a television with DVD player. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size hob and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washer/drier, along with all necessary utensils and crockery, making it ideal for longer stays. With its generous living space and practical layout, the Hay Barn is particularly well suited to families with young children.

Moat Cottage

Moat Cottage is a characterful and cosy retreat, featuring a bedroom set within the former hay loft, complete with a gently sloping ceiling, a double bed and an additional single bed, along with a convenient en-suite shower room. The living area below showcases attractive exposed beams and includes a staircase leading up to the loft bedroom, adding to the cottage’s rustic appeal. This space is comfortably furnished with a sofa and armchair, as well as a dining table with chairs and a television with DVD player, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size hob and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier, along with all the necessary cookware and crockery for a self-catering stay. Storage is thoughtfully provided with hanging space in an under-stairs cupboard and the cottage’s windows offer peaceful views across the moat and surrounding countryside fields.
