Balnagore Moss Estate offers charming self catering accommodation in the quaint hamlet of Machrie, set in an Area of Outstanding Beauty. Our houses on the Isle of Arran offer stunning countryside views and the Machrie River is less than a mile away, great for fishing.

Accommodation

We have 3 properties to choose from. Balnagore and Cairnfield are former farmhouses that have been tastefully converted, whilst Rowanbank is a single-storey cottage. All the properties are well-equipped and come with a range of facilities to suit your needs.

Balnagore - Sleeps 11

Our traditional sandstone former farmhouse dates from the 19th Century and is accessed via a private lane. Outside we have a lawned garden with seating and a BBQ for al fresco dining.

Unwind in the large sitting room that comes with an open fire, flat screen Sky TV, DVD player and outstanding views. A well-equipped kitchen is at the opposite end of the sitting room and includes a range of appliances: an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. A washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, chest freezer and iron are just off the kitchen. You can also unwind in the second sitting room in front of the open fire.

In total, there are 6 bedrooms: 3 double, 2 twins, and 1 single. The master king room is on the ground floor adjacent to a bathroom. Upstairs there is a further bathroom.

Cairnfield – Sleeps 10

We offer accommodation for up to 10 people in Cairnfield. The house dates from the 1870s and comes with an enclosed garden, including seating and BBQ.

A spacious sitting room offers lovely views and comes with a flat-screen TV, Sky Freeview and a DVD player. The dining room has an open fire and the fully-equipped oak kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. A washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, chest freezer and iron are just off the kitchen.

Upstairs we have 2 en suite doubles, 2 twins and 2 single rooms. Upstairs there are 2 more bathrooms, whilst the master en suite and third bathroom have a shower over the bath.

Rowanbank – Sleeps 5

Our single-level cottage was once a farm and Machrie’s post office and shop. The newly converted cottage offers countryside views. Outside we have an enclosed garden with seating and a BBQ, ideal for drinking in the afternoon sun.

Inside there is a dining room with an open fire and board games. A utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and iron. Unwind the spacious sitting room that comes with a flat-screen TV and DVD player. One of the sofas can be converted into a double. The fully-equipped kitchen includes an electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and cafetiere.

Bedrooms consist of a twin en suite and king en suite with a separate walk-in shower. The dressing room has a 2’ 6” bed and a walk-in cupboard.

Visting Machir & Exploring the Isle of Arran

We are close to the village of Blackwaterfoot, home to a post office, newsagent, garage, restaurants, butchers and bakers. You can play at Shiskine Golf Club or relax on Blackwaterfoot Beach. Attractions to visit include:

Brodick Castle, Garden and Country Park.
Machrie Moor Standing Stones.
Lochranza Distillery.
Goatfell.
Glen Rosa.
