Hilltops Brecon sits just two miles from the town of Brecon, situated within the peaceful surroundings of a former hill farm known as The Held. Reached by a private driveway, the property enjoys uninterrupted views of rolling countryside, distant hills and an abundance of local wildlife. The holiday cottages are created from the farm’s original 200-year-old stone buildings, carefully and thoughtfully renovated to offer modern comfort while preserving their historic character and charm.
This welcoming cottage comfortably sleeps up to four guests and offers a cosy lounge with ample sofas, a flat-screen TV and a log burner, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the hills. The fully equipped kitchen/diner includes an electric oven and grill, refrigerator, freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher and all essential cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. The accommodation features a master bedroom with a king-size bed and a twin room, while the master benefits from an en-suite with a double-ended bath and separate walk-in shower and the twin room has access to its own shower room just across the landing. Outside, a gravel parking area is located behind the farmhouse, with the property reached via a short gravel path and stone steps.
The cottage is entered on the first floor, where a spacious open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area awaits, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that frame stunning views of Pen y Fan and the Brecon Beacons. The well-equipped kitchen includes an oven and grill, Nespresso coffee machine, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and all essential cookware, while the lounge offers comfortable sofas and a flat-screen TV for relaxing after a day in the hills. The accommodation comprises a generous master suite with a king-size bed, dressing area and en-suite shower room, along with a twin bedroom with two full-sized single beds and access to a private patio area. A family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC serves this floor, and an optional downstairs double en-suite bedroom can be added at the time of booking to accommodate up to six guests.
At Hilltops Brecon, our holiday cottages are proud to support Green Tourism through a range of sustainable initiatives. Solar PV panels generate much of our electricity, while a biomass boiler powered by sustainable fuel provides underfloor and central heating as well as hot water, supported by solar water heating on sunny days. We encourage guests to recycle wherever possible and help us reduce single-use plastics during their stay. An electric vehicle charging point is available on site (please contact us for current fees), with additional charging facilities located nearby in Brecon town.
Brecon in Powys is the perfect gateway to the stunning landscapes of the Brecon Beacons National Park, offering a wealth of attractions for visitors. Climb Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, for breathtaking views, or enjoy gentler walks and wildlife spotting around Llangorse Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales. History lovers can explore Brecon Cathedral and the Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh, while the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal provides scenic towpath walks, boat trips and cycling routes. Nearby market towns such as Hay-on-Wye, famous for its bookshops and annual literary festival and the dramatic waterfalls at Ystradfellte, make Brecon an ideal base for discovering the natural beauty and rich heritage of mid-Wales.
