The five Alfred self-catering cottages are set within a peaceful courtyard behind the main house. Light and airy, with high ceilings, these comfortably furnished cottages can accommodate between two and eight guests. The Alfreds provide ensuite self-catering accommodation on the ground floor, with some cottages welcoming dogs, making them ideal for both couples and families seeking a relaxing getaway.
Alfred 2 Bedroom Cottage - The two-bedroom cottages feature a beamed sitting room with a vaulted ceiling, stone fireplace, wood-burning stove, flat-screen TV and an open-plan kitchen with dining area and dishwasher. One bedroom has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath and overhead shower, while the second offers twin beds and an en-suite shower room. Outside, guests can enjoy a shared central garden or private garden with furniture and on-site parking is available.
Alfred 4 Bedroom Cottage - The four-bedroom cottages feature a beamed sitting room with a vaulted ceiling, stone fireplace, wood-burning stove, writing desk, corner sofa and flat-screen TV. A separate contemporary kitchen includes a dining table, chairs and modern fitted units with appliances such as a dishwasher. There are four bedrooms in total, two with king-size double beds and two with twin beds, each furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and an en-suite bathroom. All en-suites are equipped with underfloor heating, with the doubles featuring baths and overhead showers and the twins offering shower cubicles. Outside, guests can enjoy a central communal garden in front of the cottages and convenient on-site parking.

The bedroom includes a king-size double bed and a fitted wardrobe and the bathroom offers a bath with an overhead shower, heated towel rail, washbasin and WC. The property also provides free Wi-Fi, garden furniture and parking.
Stable Cottage 2 - The cottage offers a comfortable sitting room with French doors leading to a lawned terrace, a flat-screen TV with Freeview and a dining area with table and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped with fitted units, a fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Bedroom one features a king-size double bed, a single bed, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers, while bedroom two includes a single bed and chest of drawers. With all of the cottages, all beds are supplied with pillows and duvets and linen and towels are provided. Guests are kindly asked to bring their own beach towels.
At the centre of the Farringford Estate, is a Grade I listed building that once served as the main residence of Poet Laureate Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Situated in a secluded part of the Isle of Wight, the estate offers guests the opportunity to book a guided tour of the historic house and explore its beautifully maintained gardens during their stay.
Farringford is an ideal base for exploring the Isle of Wight. The scenic Military Road runs along the island’s dramatic southern coastline, offering the chance to visit the charming, unspoilt villages of Mottistone, where you can explore Mottistone Gardens and Brighstone before continuing south to the picturesque seaside town of Ventnor and its renowned Botanical Gardens. The popular beach resorts of Shanklin and Sandown are also just a short drive away.
