About Earl Thorfinn Cottage

This lovely two bedroomed cottage is a 5 minute walk to the town centre and less than a 10 minutes drive from the Northlink Ferry terminal and airport. Earl Thorfinn Cottage has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom with a newly refurbished shower room. There is a small garden to the back and front of the cottage and has parking. All bed linen, large bath towel and hand towels are included and dish towels/cloths are provided. Complimentary Orkney fudge and oatcakes, subject to availability.

Visiting Kirkwall & Exploring Orkney

Kirkwall is the largest town on Orkney and is right in the heart of Orkney Mainland. This makes it a great base for visiting places such as:

St Magnus Cathedral
Earls Palace.
Scapa Beach.
Highland Park Distillery.
Scapa Whisky Distillery.
Orkney Gin distilling.

Orkney is a stunning island situated 59 degrees north just off the top of the Scottish mainland and is full of history, charm and character. When heading out west of the Orkney mainland, you can reach the second largest town Stromness, Neolithic Sites, Skara Brae and the Standing Stones of Stenness. Alternatively, when travelling east Kirkwall you can visit the Italian Chapel and Churchill Barries from WWII. A trip to Orkney would not be complete without enjoying a boat excursion! Regular boat trips are available from Kirkwall harbour which allow you to explore the outer isles such as Westray, Eday, Stronsay, Rousay and more. Orkney and its outer isles have many beautiful walks and cycle routes, which are just waiting to be explored and enjoyed.
