Sycamore Tree Farm is an 18th Century farmhouse perched high on the Mallerstang fell side with magnificent views over the Eden Valley. The famous Settle-Carlisle railway runs through Mallerstang higher up the fell. The holiday cottage is at the end of a private road that winds through a working farm up towards the fells - an escape from the stresses of everyday life.
Accommodation
This wonderful Grade II Listed stone built farmhouse dates from the 1800s and not offers modern accommodation whilst retaining its original character. The property is tastefully furnished and well-equipped throughout.Inside the sitting room comes with beams and open fire. The well-equipped beamed farmhouse kitchen has a range of appliances: electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle and toaster, plus a walk-in pantry. You can also relax in the summer room which has patio doors leading to a secluded garden and small beck.
On the first floor are 3 double bedrooms, including 1 king double and a twin that leads to a double room that works well for small children The rooms share bathroom and a ground floor WC is also available.
Outside there is a lawned garden with furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining in the afternoon sun.
Visiting Mallerstang & Exploring Cumbria
Sycamore is an ideal spot for bird watchers and nature lovers. There are pheasants, rabbits and red squirrels in the garden and the trees behind, and down by the River Eden, our two resident herons. Fish for trout from the river bank or go horse riding on the bridle ways that cross the fells. Golf courses are within half an hour's drive - or if you're feeling adventurous hire a mountain bike or try para-gliding. Excellent attractions to visit include:High Force Waterfall.
